Thanks for posting. The Handsome Family is a new discovery for me. They do remind me of Leonard Cohen and Calexico both of whom I greatly admire. (((George)))

I seriously  want to hate this but the combination of gorgeous girl, phenomenal guitar and catchy pop won't let me get the song out of my head.

I guess I am getting old, but I seriously do not get that crap from Lorde that won a Grammy. WTF is that? That's better than Bruno Mars or Pink?

If I had to rank those three, it would probably be 1) "Just Give Me A Reason", 2) "Royals", and 3) "Locked Out of Heaven". Royals is a solid song, definitely not crap. I would have put Just Give Me A Reason ahead of it though. Locked Out of Heaven feels like a punt from Bruno Mars to be honest.

Two things:  Different tastes, and WTF do the Grammys really mean anyway??

Pretty sure that I heard them say that Black Sabbath won a Grammy this year.  Also remember that Steely Dan won some Grammys a couple of years ago as well ... like 8 billion years after they stopped being relevant. ;)

But for the record, I really like all 3 of those songs.  When they were each fresh, I'd say Locked Out Of Heaven 1st (Saw it on SNL and was immediately blown away), Royals, then Give Me A Reason.  Now, after hearing them each 10,000 times, I'd swap Give Me A Reason into 2nd and put Royals 3rd.  Each time I hear Royals it loses something, but each time I hear Pink/Fun guy the song seems to get better.

I still think they are all good songs though.

------------------------------------------------------

None of those are "What I'm listening to" now though.  After seeing American Hustle, I've been in love with this song by ELO ...

Probably not a coincidence that this song draws me in from the start, especially considering the intro to one of my all-time favorite songs from my all-time favorite band ...

    • Fair enough. You could be right.  Although, Cam Smith, to his credit, admitted it. His quote was something to the effect of "LIV Golf ruined my game. I have no drive what so ever to practice." I'm paraphrasing a little, but that was basically what he said.
    • Okay, I gave this a try today.  Just for clarity sake I used a "Spin-the-wheel" picker ap on my phone to choose which order to do the distances. Then I used my Voice Caddie SC4, which I think is pretty good. Lastly, I used carry distance not total distance. I finished 9 over par.  The very first number generated by the ap was 125. Which I hit to 123 and made a birdie. I was like "This is going to be easy." Then I got the 160 which I hit to 171 and went from 1 under to 1 over just like that.  90 yards - par 95 yards - par 100 yards - par 105 yards - bogey 110 yards - par 115 yards - double 120 yards - par 125 yards - birdie 130 yards - par 135 yards - bogey 140 yards - double 145 yards - bogey 150 yards - par 155 yards - birdie 160 yards - double  165 yards - bogey 170 yards - bogey 175 yards - par Overall a fun little game. If you have an SC4 it will let you enter in a distance as a target and record your distance for you. Then once the picker ap tells you you've done all the distances you simply add up your score off the SC4 ap. Easy-peasy.  BTW - It was hotter than a snake's ass in a wagon rut out there today.
    • On Saturday I played a short (~5900yds) but narrow course that has some quirky holes and very mature trees. Shot a 34-34 for a 68 on a par 71 which tied my lowest score relative to par at -3 (all time lowest round is a 67 on a par 70) and set my new record for most birdies in a round with 6.  That included a penalty stroke bogey on a par 5 and another sloppy bogey from 125 in the middle of the fairway. Hit a wedge from 110 to a foot on a par 4 and a knockdown flighted 9 iron from 140 to 2 feet on a par 3 for easy birdies. Add in driving it greenside on a par 4 and a couple tap in birdies on par 5s and it was a good day. Also helps that I made every putt inside 10 feet and only ended up with 27 putts for the round.  This is the SG compared to scratch and that includes losing 1.01 strokes approach on the 1st hole when I sliced a 5 iron into a hazard.
    • Gotcha, yeah it's hard to tell from single aerial pictures what the rough is like. From that picture everything on the right just looks like traditional rough, not necessarily fescue. But that makes sense now.
    • I mean maybe? Or maybe they just aren't playing frequently enough to stay super sharp.  Just because they don't put up good results doesn't mean they aren't trying/practicing.
