Agree 100 percent, but that is also very much in his character.

Probably more exaggerate his injury  to make it look like he’s pressing through.

Thats a great team you have there. Feel a little bit for Horschel, winning the WGC matchplay event this year and finishing top10 at East Lake last week. I don't know how well he goes with the others in the team, but he deserved a shot ahead of Scheffler in my book.

Edited by Troy Ocker

In the bag: Callaway Mavrik SZ 10,5 driver (X stiff), Cobra King 4 wood (Stiff, 2006 model), Callaway Mavrik irons 4 - P+A (stiff), Cobra King Pur wedges 52, 56 and 60 (stiff) and Odessey white steel putter.  Very happy with the set and the gapping.

Not for this course. He just doesn’t hit it far enough. Same for Na and Kisner. But Na is so solid otherwise I’d go with him over both if Man-Child Bam-Bam Brooks had to bail.

Brooks is popping a Mich Ultra and making fun of Bryson while walking the course today.  And that is literally it.

Yeah, maybe. Will probably have his PT out on hole 3 of the first match for a stretch session.

Betting odds are currently 1.6 US, 3.2 Europe

I made quite a bit of money in 2018 betting on my team (Europe); this year I see an edge for Americans, but not that much, Europe odd is very tempting

if Brooks is confirmed in the US, with the Feud and Phil as vice captain there would be a lot of pot stirring and finger pointing if something goes wrong the 1st day

I feel like the US made the exact right picks, so a good start in that way! A little concerned about Poulter getting picked ahead of Rose. Of course you can't deny Poulter's super history in the Ryder Cup. But this course would've suited Rose better, maybe this year Poulter will start to fade a bit. Hope I'm wrong! 😀

I feel like what’s overlooked in Ryder Cup stuff (Solheim, Presidents) is just how narrow the margins are. A match that goes to 18, where one player makes a putt and another misses, is a two-point swing: 15-13 could become 14-14 in ONE hole out of the however many holes played that week. If as few as two shots are different over the course of a week, 15-13 can become 13-15.

It’s match play, and it’s 18 holes or fewer. Anything can happen. John Senden can beat Tiger Woods… TWICE, for example.

Exactly and I think the whole thing about team chemistry is way overblown.  It’s whoever plays well that match.

Very true. Great post. That is why going strictly off world golf rankings doesn’t always produce a winner. Polter is on the Euro team for 1 reason only. Get them a point.

Poulter hasn't been a great Ryder Cup player for awhile.

I don't think it's a great course fit for him, either.

Poulter is undefeated in singles.  I wouldn’t play him in all matches but he is very much there to help the team.

Meh. He's 45. And like I said, hasn't been all that great in the past several.

True all around. I am just saying that is the reason he was picked. We shall find out next week.

Brooks, I just read that article, I’m not sure he loves the Ryder Cup that much," Azinger said during an NBC Golf call with the media. "If he doesn’t love it, he should relinquish his spot and get people there who do love the Ryder Cup."

Wow. Go on, Paul …

"Not everybody embraces it. But if you don’t love it, and you’re not sold out, then I think Brooks should, you know, especially being hurt, consider whether or not he really wants to be there."

The Zinger was the 2008 US Captain. He’s not the best announcer, but I agree with his take.

I too agree. I love the Ryder Cup…but honestly I can say if Brooks plays Rory..I’d easily be rooting for Rory which kinda distorts how I like the RC to be. Brooks is such a putz.

    • I did not realize that, I was thinking a more traditional golf club.
    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
