A friend I played with this morning has a clicgear 3.5.  He said it’s been great, his only disappointment has been that a plastic part related to the hinge/pivot has worn down over the years and causes the cart to sag a little to point where there is some rubbing.  I certainly don’t know these carts at all, I wonder if some of the clicgear guys have experienced something similar, and are aware if there’s an easy fix.

You can tighten it up a bit. Also, you can get a bag riser/lift.

I bought a used one that did this. Their website has instructions on how to tighten it to bring it back to normal. They also have replacement parts if needed. I replaced the brake gear on that one.

Sounds like not a major concern for anyone considering one.

It takes two minutes to re-tighten.

Mine's never had a single issue. I've used mine for the 2019, 2020, and 2021 seasons. One of those was the "No Carts" cuz of Covid seasons too. So, needless to say I've walked a ton and used mine a lot.

You may be just fine with any cart you buy. But, if you get the ClicGear 3.5+ or 4.0, you will certainly be happy.

BTW - I just went to their website and they have many colors of the 4.0 in stock. Of course, not blue, but that's too be expected as doubtless blue is the best color and certainly in the highest demand. 🤪

There's also a note on their webpage talking about the perfect storm of:

  • More golfers in general
  • More golfers walking specifically
  • Supply chain issues
  • More people shopping on-line

All of that leads to fewer in-stock models for ClicGear's webpage. They are producing them as fast as they can and keep checking the webpage as supplies are always changing.

Why? It’s the less good ClicGear.

Just get a 3.5 or 4.0.

I had the ClicGear and like the Rovic much better. Easier to maneuver and lighter. It also fits better in the trunk.

What’s the size/weight difference? It’s not much.

The Rovic c. Is a smaller cart with smaller front wheel. Maybe a few lbs. but for someone who uses a 2.5 lbs bag it is great. I am sure the 3.5 or 4.0 are just as great. My needs didn’t warrant the extra money.

Not sure about the size/weight differences without going to the web-sites and looking at specs. I'm basing it on the difference in weight/size of the Cliqgear 3.5 I gave to the wife. The Rovic takes up much less room in the trunk and definitely weighs less taking it out of the car/truck.

2 Rovics folded are almost the same length as a Sun Mountain Speed cart that is how compact they are. I don’t know how long the 3.5/4.0 are.

There's Clicgear and then there's the rest. Personally I have the 4 wheeled 8.0, but I previously had the 3.5 and it's just a good. I gave the 3.5 to my father and he has used it since. Every guy in my group uses Clicgear, some weekends we have 8-9 of them out there. The proshop where I work sells them like hotcakes. I have never had someone have an issue with one. Heck, I've never even heard of someone having a problem with one. Best cart there is, hands down.

I like my clicgear alot. I bought it right before taking it up to Sand Valley. That course put it through it's paces. That is not a flat course. That push cart didn't hinder me at all. The only downside is, the tires are not the best for sandy areas. Majority of courses do not have to worry about that.

So I walked my first round of golf today and rented a clicgear 3.5 from the pro shop. It was a great experience and hope to have many more walks in my future. With that said, I think a cart with the front wheel able to swivel would be beneficial.. can you get the clicgear with this option or are there other quality brands with the break on the handle and front wheel that swivels? Thanks for all those that have helped me with this endeavor.

Yes the Rovic model comes with the small front wheel that swivels. Only a foot brake on it.

I think a swiveling front wheel can be a mistake too. The guys I know with those carts often lock the front wheel straight.

Not everyone likes the Clicgear, myself included. They are very well constructed but they feel like tanks instead of sports cars. Someone mentioned the maneuverability and I agree. The weight is irrelevant, it's more of a feel thing. Don't take it personally.

    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
