I don't know about that, as you almost can't compare Tiger to anyone. You can barely compare Tiger to Jon Rahm or Rory McIlroy or Jordan or Scottie.

Charlie hasn't played in an AJGA event — Tiger won three U.S. Junior Ams.

There's no comparison.

Tiger was SO good, I think that actually helps Charlie a bit.

An 86 in this event is very good for anyone his age.

Eh. I wouldn't go that far. The course was 6700 yards, par 70.

Agree, there are plenty of +2..+3 guys out there with his same age that can shoot easily on the 70's. I heard he made 12 on a hole so.. I remember Tiger saying he prepared Charly to be mentally strong. 12 in a hole is not a matter of ability or even strategy, I'm sure after a couple of balls in the water his strong mind left the room. Good player for his age, but he is always going to be compared with his father and of course he is never going to be enough.

Charlie has a tough road ahead of him as far as constant comparisons go. Time will tell if he makes it on Tour or winds up like Kevin Tway playing in Monday Qualifiers. One thing for certain, the media will hound him every step of the way, along with some a-hole moaning about how he's not as good as his dad.

I literally spit out my coffee on that one laughing. Thanks LOL

I can imagine the pressure that will be on that kid, being the son of Tiger Woods. Anything he does in golf will be compared to his dad, and he will know it every time he tees it up. Many years ago, I went up to my local public course in CT to play 9 holes on a Sunday afternoon. The starter told me to play with the three guys on the first tee, one of whom was Jack Nicklaus II (yes, Jack's son). He was going to try to qualify for the Hogan (Nike?) Tour event at Yale GC the next day. He a said that at his age (then about 29) his dad had already won about 6 majors. He was there to see if there was a possibility he could play tour golf. I actually gave him some advice on where to "bail out" on a few holes! The following day, he shot I think an 83 in the qualifying round and went home. Mostly known today as his dad's caddy and designer of several "Jack Nicklaus II" golf courses. Nice guy, but you could sense the weight of his dad's legacy on his shoulders.

Nice to see a tournament this weekend where hitting  it  in the rough was costly.

I was out there Friday. It was actually better to miss the fairway further out where the fans had trampled the rough down. The course was beautiful but that rough they had to deal with was US OPEN style. I thought it was a great tournament.

Yes, it was  nice to see a course that rewarded accuracy and  penalized not  hitting the fairway. If Sheffler can keep the  putter going he will do alot  of winning this  year.

Back to the same  ol easy  peasy this week. If a sand trap isnt a  penalty why are they even on a  course?

It is a penalty, they are just better at getting out of it than most people.

Can you go and piss and moan somewhere else? You’re like a toddler constantly whining about his diaper being full instead of learning how to potty train. The horse is dead. You’ve made your misguided point. Now move on and leave us in peace.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
