I need 5, 13, 16, and 17 to complete it. But I am now a little worried about needing to play 18 to get those last 3, especially if I'm still missing them in, like, October.

81 holes of golf since this post, 7 birdies, and knocked out zero of these holes. I had a reasonable shot at 17 from ~15 feet yesterday and just missed it short and high. Had a decent look at 16 twice, but no dice either time.

I hear you. #14 and #17 are my missing Away holes. Had a round with 6 birdies and only knocked off one hole. I never will complete the Home card before the snow flies. Sigh.

I am already strategizing about what courses have easier holes on the ones I'm missing! There's still 5 months left (August, September, October, November, December)! I'm not well...

Birdied #4 at the home course. Hit it to 12’ and made the putt. Halfway done.

Four birdies today (3, 5, 12 and 18). Eagled 18 a few weeks ago. I just added myself to the list. That leaves three holes (hardest) and a few months to get them.

Bumped 14 from my list today. Hit a slightly toed 6I from 186 on 14 at WW today, and made the 13-footer dead in the middle.

I played 10, 14, and 17 from the blue tees but the rest of the round from the whites with irons.

Ok, I have completed the challenge and have eagles on 3/4 of par 5s. Today though brought something different as I had the Turkey by having consecutive birdies on 2, 3, and 4. I actually lipped out on 5 so 4 was in reach. Anyway, I think that's a first for me!

Birdied the final hole on my home course today. It’s always been a bogey in the past so this felt great. Aggressive swings to conservative targets: hit a big drive, followed by a partial wedge to 2 feet. The Dan Grieve partial wedge setup system worked! Thrilled with the outcome.

Birdied #13 at Quail Brook with a 15-footer. I thought it was new but apparently it isn’t.

Missed a 3-footer on #12 for birdie that would have been new, but it was probably the dumbest 3-footer I’ve ever seen. It broke 12” from the apex and started rolling back towards me, leaving me 2’ uphill for par. I probably could have putt a foot past the hole and it would have rolled in from behind. Stupid hole location.

I birdied number 5 to knock off the entire front 9. I was slightly worried about this hole - at the course I normally play at, number 5 is the hardest hole for all 3 of the 9-hole courses. In fact, I birdied the hardest hole location on that hole (I pushed the approach about 20 feet, ha ha).

All that is left now is 13, 16, and 17. I probably have 10 more rounds until the end of the year, so a decent amount of chances, but I might be playing back 9s a lot in November/December!

Wow, Saturday I made 5 birdies (and only 3 pars), I now have 13 holes complete at my home club.

Finally completed the challenge! took me a long time to get hole number 4, which is a short par 4 that gently curves about 60 yards left starting at about 200 yards out and then the fairway necks down to the green. I have sometimes taken a 3W off the tee because I can push my drive and it then would enter a wooded area about 230 yards out.

I pulled driver and blasted a push into the woods and it rattled around and ended up in the fairway about 60 yards from a back center pin. Spun a 58* wedge to about 2 feet:

There was a little break to it and the greens were recently aerated making a short putt a little more difficult.

Finally. It seemed like months since I was able to record anything. I finally got #17 to complete my "Away" scorecard. Woo hoo! I will stay away from discussing my pathetic efforts so far with my "Home" course.

Played 63 holes over this past weekend. Made 5 birdies, but none on 13 or 17, which are my last 2 remaining. I am running out of time. I probably have 8 rounds left this year, so it's getting to crunch time here.

I thought I had already knocked #1 off the composite list so I didn’t bother posting about it, but apparently I didn’t. I birdied #1 at Spooky Brook on 10/6.

It’s a short par 5; I flared my drive a little right but far enough to get under the trees that would normally block an approach from that angle. I hit PW to 20’ but missed the eagle putt.

Front 9 is done on the composite list. Only #12 and #15 left to go.

    • Very respectfully, I disagree.  I still believe there’s a small kernel of truth to my theory.  Hey, you, iacas and many others here are extremely knowledgeable, know the game inside out, know the tour inside out.  I’m just a schmuck who posted a take, admittedly unsupported and not up to reasonable high standards. There’s a background to my take - I’ll attempt to briefly describe it.  Back when Rory first came on tour, I thought he was great - most folks did, his talent was undeniable, and his youthful happy go lucky looking demeanor made him even more likable.  And he won early, fast - at the highest levels. And then the physical workouts started.  That was cool, man he’s looking good.  And as it went along, was even a bit shocking.  But all was still good in the Rory fan club. But as a few years rolled along and the majors stopped, folks like me started to question the effect of the physical build up.  (raising my hand here - - folks like me were probably concentrating 95% on the majors record, and failing to acknowledge his stellar play overall) The matches with Patrick Reed...  Somewhere around that time, Patrick became “the most hated man on tour”.  Raising my hand again, not sure if that timing is accurate, or even if that moniker was deserved.  But when Rory got into the screaming flex-off, it definitely detracted from the earlier Rory likability.  It’s kinda like he was lowering himself to Patrick’s level.  Not so great, for me at least. As the mid 2010s rolled along, and the majors drought continued, and the near misses at the Masters happened, the dreaded ‘choke’ perception inevitably raised its head and persisted.  I joined in with the chorus, not disliking Rory, but certainly questioning his ability to close the Masters or any other major.  Rightfully or wrongly, it was there. Then LIV came along.  As that developed, I saw the anti-LIV sentiment develop along with it, and I took offense to it.  My thought - these guys are being offered life changing $$, and the anti-LIV folks are trying to stop them from getting it. And then when Rory rose to ‘lead’ the anti-LIV sector, that really rubbed me the wrong way.  The press conferences, the parking lot shouting match - it just all seemed really distasteful to me.  And it seemed far far away from the early Rory, who I really liked. So all that (in my own mind) led me down the “Rory will never win.. yada yada”.  Not based on any real statistical analysis.  Not taking into account the incredible stats and winning record he had amassed. Purely based on perception and cultural silliness.  AND - the physical thing, which as I mentioned, I think there’s a tiny kernel of merit there. So - fast forward to Rory’s post win press conference.  THAT was the old Rory I remembered!  The totally cool guy, humble, forthright, honest, self deprecating.  He’s probably been like that all along.  And he’s certainly backed off the hard core anti-LIV persona, at least in public. That’s it.  Just a stupid unsupported take from a dumbsh*t golf fan.  For me, this was the most exciting major since the Tiger era. I really thought it would be a gladiator death match between Rory and Bryson.  I’m surprised that Bryson fell off - - I thought he was well-set-up to handle the pressure.  I’m sure he’ll be there many times in the future, along with Rory.
    • I've been watching golf for 35 years and I've seen my fair share of exciting events, but I cannot recall ever watching so much up and down in the fortunes of one player in one round of golf. How good the good shots were and how bad the bad shots were and how he was leading, then not, then leading again, then way clear, then tied, then behind, then leading, then in a playoff, then winning. Heck I aged just watching it on the TV - Rory must have gone through some stuff out there. Just incredible. Consider that Rory had two double bogeys, three bogeys, six birdies, and Rose made only 4 pars, 4 bogeys, and 10 birdies. 10! Round that place? Mind officially blown.
    • Yea it doesn’t suck. I didn’t score well but most of it came down to short game and putting. I had 3 holes I can directly blame bad long game shots on. I’m just trying to hedge my bets. If I don’t make it as a professional golfer, I could be a fitness model as a backup plan.
