Yea, over +4 strokes gained putting. Which is about 3.5 strokes better than what his year strokes gained putting is at. 

Regression to the mean might be brutal out there.

Yeah, looks difficult.  Rory started on 10 and was 2 under through 18.  Then from 1-9 he had 4 bogeys and a double 🤦‍♀️

It feels like Rory blew his load on the 18th at Augusta. Maybe everyone is underestimating how much that took out of him. Watching McGinley whaling in 'Roaddie' for not stopping by to talk to the press was bit of drag. The dude has given so many interviews and so much of himself over the years, he outghta be able to play with house money sometimes. Jeez, leave him the fak alone.

Honestly, my three picks to win this were/are Brooks, Scottie and Rory.  Can still see Rory coming back if he plays like the first 9 where he had 2 birdies and 7 pars.  Not like his second 9 where he had 4 bogeys, one double and 4 pars.  Brooks on the other hand seems to be doing better.  Scottie sort of in between them

Really going out on a limb there to say “he can get back in it if he only makes birdies and pars.” 😛

I got money on Brooks. I took him to win and also to finish top 10. His odds were very healthy for a 2 time winner. He was +5000 to win coming into the tournament and +700 to finish top 10. I know he's a live guy, but by any standard those odds felt way out of whack. 

I bet 30 bucks. $10 on him to win, which will pay out $500 if he wins. And $20 to finish top 10, which will pay $140 if he can finish in the top 10.

My grandfather played in this event 90 years ago at the same site at age 21. I was going through some memorabilia and wanted to share these gems. The first image shows the cover of the 25-cent program along with the pairings and starting time sheet with grandpa's name on it. It seems he was star struck and got the signatures of Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen as well as took some photos. The last image shows that he and his opponent carded 84's one day. Looks like he recorded number of putts as well as the putt length. He paid $5 for the entry to sectional qualifying rounds each in 1934 and 1935. Enjoy the tournament!

The course is lethal,my first time seeing byron and I'm not impressed by his swing or putting,it looks cack handed,I admire his distances though but boy his swing is so unattractive

All that stuff is super cool. It's so interesting to think about how the course has changed throughout the years. The course says the current renovation that took place in 2023 is accurate to sometime between '35 and '49. Albeit your grandfather played it with the furrows, which had to have been significant disadvantage, but the greens I would imagine ran high single digits. That would have also been before the PA TPK came through in the 60s, at this time still being I believe the Allegheny Valley Railroad (or maybe Bessemer & Lake Erie?) where golfers had to putt through soot covered greens from the coal powered trains, one golfer hitting a ball onto the train that was headed to Cleveland; given the title "Longest Drive in Golf", you can read more here.
