I have played 851 course in all 50 states and have played in 21 countries (U.S.A., Thailand, England, Canada, Bahamas, Slovakia, France, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Mexico, Netherlands, U.A.E., Spain, Morocco, Portugal, Vietnam, Japan, and Puerto Rico.

Earlier this year I finished my quest when I play Wildhorse Resort in Pendleton, ID.

I save a logo ball from each course (if they have them). At present I have 796 balls displayed in 8 100-ball racks.

1.     My estimate is I've played about 100 different course

2.     covering 12 states and 4 countries

3.     No, I don't collect anything from the courses I play.  I am not anal or sentimental. :-D

I get a logo ball from each courses played (if they have them). I display them in 100-ball racks in my den. At present I have 797 balls. Lately I also have been getting a poker chip ball marker if available.

Best Guess (have a list of most of the courses I've played, I know I've missed a couple when I was in the military or when i was younger) is 197 over 24 states, majority in Maine, Maryland and Virginia.  Bucket list of playing golf in every state is still under way.  If you add Canada, Mexico and the Philippines, I'd break the 200 barrier easily.

I officially got serious about golf and began playing often/regularly in 1992.  I've owned a golf membership since 1996 meaning I play 85-90% of my golf at a single course each year since that time.  I've had memberships at 2 private clubs and 4 different public courses over the years.

With that said..........

I've still managed to play 152 different courses and I track these courses by saving  my low scorecard from every course I play.   My cards sit in a drawer in my golf bathroom...LOL   Weird Stat of the Day??

I sort them by score.....IE...so I know I've scored in the 70s or lower on 73 different courses.  I've scored 75 lower on 20 different courses.   72 or lower on 7 courses, etc, etc, etc...I can go on spouting these kinds of stats.......LOL :-)

I can probably add 20-30 courses if I include courses where I've played corporate scramble outings, but I don't count those because it wasn't a real round of golf.

Well, I enjoy playing different courses. I am semi-retired and get to travel both for business and pleasure. Last May I finished my quest when I played Wildhorse Resort & Casino in Pendleton, OR. This was my state number 50. I have also played in 6 Canadian provinces. As for countries I now have 20 - Austria, Bahamas, Canada, Czech Republic, England, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, U.S.A., and Viet Nam. Total courses played - 858.

I collect a logo ball from each course played (have 803, not all courses have logo balls). I also save a poker chip ball marker if they have them.

1. I've only played seven courses: Caberfae Peaks, Briar North, Briar South (since renamed), McGuires, Emerald Vale, Elmbrook and Mistwood

2. All in the same region (Northern Michigan). I'm really looking forward to playing in some other states the next time my and wife and I drive down to Florida.

3. I saved a couple of the scorecards.

Over my 40-some years of playing, I can identify about 230 courses, in 15 states in the US, as well as 5 other countries (Scotland, Ireland, Bermuda, St. Kitts, and Australia).  I'll be adding a few more this year.  I leave on Saturday for Palm Springs, with at least 5 rounds on 4 courses scheduled.  My wife and I will also be visiting Kohler, WI in June, playing the Straits and Blackwolf Run River Courses on our way up to Houghton, MI.  I don't specifically collect memorabilia from every course, but i AM a sucker for a nice golf shirt or sweater.

Oddly enough, JonMA1 has played one of the courses I have, Elmbrook in Traverse City.  I even worked at that course one summer while I was in college.

Stumbled across this thread looking for something else today...cool thread.

I came up with 67 courses across 5 states.  I am sure I am probably missing a few.  But I added a couple I think I played but I am not sure. :-\

Oregon - 36, Montana - 16, Washington - 7, Arizona - 5, Nevada - 3.

I don't collect something from every course, once in awhile I get a cap or a shirt.  I am sure I have some score cards but I have started thinning those out.

I like the pins on the Google map idea, I'll have to try that out.

WOW, how do you guys remember all those?  I guess I haven't really thought about it....  I mean I've thought about it, but not actually thought about it lol -  Yeah, I know how bad that sounds

umm... states, VA, NC, SC, GA, TX, PA, WV....    I've played more courses than I originally thought - It's over 100 courses (1998-2005 and from 2009-2015)?   Man, I've been pretty lucky-

I try to get a divot tool from the courses I've played but I just started that a few years ago and already have a decent collection...  I routinely switch between about 9-10 local courses throughout the year.

I'm definitely over 200 now with my last trip, and I keep adding more to the list, got 4 more in the Pinehurst area  to add, plus my Vegas trip, and setting up a trip to Homestead VA, a trip to play golf in WV and somehow I have to figure out how to the make the Newport Cup, as I've never played in Arizona.

Can you say addicted to golf.

I buy a shirt from most of the courses I play now.  At least when I'm traveling to Hawaii

Unfortunately, as my username suggests I'm more of a pitch and putter than a golf player, think my Dad gave up on me as teenager when I hit the ball right up the fairway and still couldn't find my ball... however, being Scottish, a sports enthusiast and a two hours drive from several open courses (plus Gleneagles) it would be inevitable that I would follow Golf -all be it as an armchair player..

In spite of this though I can lay claim to play the Old Course several times -part of it at least ......you may have heard of the "Himalayas" which is the putting green associated with course. Costing no more than £2 to play (less than $5) its an experience which I can only imagine is similar to playing the "Valley of sin" at the 18th hole on the nearby fairway. Would recommend it to any golf armchair enthusiast like me or even those with a decent handicap if only to feel the St Andrews experience.....great for the family aswell.

Ok... revised to 73.  I keep finding courses in Oregon that I have played.  Put together a map.  I made some guesses on a couple courses I played in AZ because I could not remember the names.

I'm not much of a traveler, but I've played 64 courses in CA, AZ and NV.  I have logo balls from some of the courses, but haven't gotten one from every course I've played.  It's pretty amazing to see how many different courses some have played!

    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
    • That's a great spring/summer of trips! I'll be in Pinehurst in March, playing Pinehurst No. 2, No. 10, Tobacco Road, and The Cradle.
    • April 2025 - Pinehurst, playing Mid Pines and Southern Pines + 3 other courses. Probably Talamore, Mid-South, and one other.  July 2025 - Bandon Dunes, just me and my dad.
