Look for the F-60. I think either rockbottomgolf or tgw had them on special this weekend.

+1 to Mizuno 3 woods. I personally use the F50 3 wood and hit bombs with it. Best 3 wood I have used so far.

In my Xtreme Sport bag
'09 Burner 9.5*
F50 15* 3 Wood
Burner 18* 5 Wood
MX-19 4-GW SV Tour 54.12 & 58.08 White Hot 2-Ball SRT

If it's primarily an off-the-tee option you're looking for, I highly recommend the Callaway X Hot from 2007 (same vintage as the Sonartec GS Tour mentioned by others--also a great 3W), which can be had new for around $100 nowadays. Stock shaft is 44" instead of the standard 43" for a 3W, and it has a biggish head, so it may take a little getting used to (I'm 6'6", so didn't bother me particularly), but it's a monster once you get comfortable with it. I'm having driver problems (again) lately, and where my G10 driver regularly yearns to send the ball screaming 200 yds into the woods on the right (with a loud mocking thwack into the trees just to add insult to the injury of a hopelessly lost ball ), the X Hot is 240-270 right down the fairway on a relatively easy swing. The driver is pretty much dead weight in my bag with a #2 option that's so much more solid.

I'm also an old club kind of a guy. My preference being the 14.5 degree Titleist 975F. You can pick them up on ebay, with a range of shaft options, for about double the postage. Such a good club, for so cheap. You might also consider a 13.5 strong three wood.

Really nice clubs, particularly if you like woods with a small head (as do I). I've got from 8.5 (up to 11.5 is the 975D) all the way to 20.5 in 2 degree gaps. I put together the whole set for about £150 - the shafts alone are worth more than double that....

RocketSauce,

yes, i have one and still use it from time to time. ive had it for a LOOONG time (bought it brand new) and I will never sell/trade it. and yes, i am currently using the Sonartec GS Tour 3 wood AND the 5 wood (although my signature shows a Nickent 5 wood). The Sonartecs are VERY long, hot faced fairway woods. i just love the classic design of the Steelhead and the way the ball feels coming off the face. one of the all time great fairway woods IMO

Here is the 3w f-60 that I had mentioned at rbg:

Check out this link:

I got them, tax+shipping and duty, for about 40$ less than I could have here. I ordered a 3 and 5 wood, and they were good enough to call me to let me know that because of the canadian and american holidays this week, it may be monday before I get them.

On top of that, they built them exactly as I was fitted for them, +1", stiff, orange color grips (ping grips are sized by color, and I have monster mitts), g10's. Im gonna sell the Nike woods I have now to a friend, and reshaft my driver and woods I think. Going to have the pro at the club fit me for a shaft when I can play again.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Dude, that's awesome. Their customer service sounds great, and that price pretty much cant be beat. I'll have to check them out when I buy a 5W. I definitely want to hear how you like them after they're delivered.

I agree here. I purchased an original Steelhead 3W back in 98 or 99. (Whenever it first came out) I've regripped it several times and had it reshafted once. (Bag tipped over and the shaft bent)

I have changed drivers a half dozen times, putters twice and irons 3x but that 3w has stayed in my bag. It doesn't look the best anymore but I still love that club. It was one of the few that I could actually see the benefits of the "gear effect". Shots hit off the heel or toe DO come back to center much better than any other 3w I've hit. Although, I did rent a set of clubs at Del Mar back in February and they used the Callaway Fusion 3w. I loved it. Heavy like a solid hybrid and I was getting 15-20 yds more than my Steelhead. Might have been playing in CA vs here in in MN but I really liked it. If I can find one locally for cheap I'll pick one up and give it a few rounds.

I have tried Orlimar, the old Titleist F series and a number of the taylor made offerings. I carry a TM Supersteel 5w and love it. but I hated the 3w and driver.

In the bag:

-Driver: R9 9.5* MWT: Left FCT: NeutUp
-3w: Fusion 3w
-Hybrid: 585h 19*, 585h 24*-Irons: 755 Forged 5-PW-Wedges: Vokey 52.08* | 56.12* | 60.06-Putter:-Ball: DT | ProV1
