I usually mark mine with a dot to the left of the brand name, then a dot to the left of the number (because of left handed).

I remember one time I got an entire bag of balls from my friend who works at a golf course, and he and his fiance at the time decided to pre-mark mine with things such as "Canada sucks, eh" (because I used to lived near the Canadian boarder), and things such as "Brad loves balls".  Should have been an interesting laugh for whoever found those

i'm a bit less sublte than others.  i sign the ball with my initials: a J and S together, on each side of the ball, with a red sharpie, about 3/4 of an inch in height.  i can see the mark from about 10 yards away.  it will rub down about mid-way through the round, so i will reapply.  i will add a red dot or two below the number on the ball on my backup balls so if i hit a provisional, i will then know which ball i found when i start looking.

In my Grom Stand bag:

Driver: Ping G20, 8.5 Tour Stiff
Wood/Hybrid: G20 3W, Raylor 19*, 22*
Irons: R9 5I - SW, TM CGB LW

Putter: Scotty Cameron Kombi-Mid

Favorites: Old Ranch (Seal Beach), Ike/Babe (Industry Hills), Skylinks (Long Beach), Desert Willow (Palm Desert)

I let Mother Nature mark it for me - there has to be either a tree or rock around.

That, and 4 dots around the stamped number.

I put two green dots on either side of the brand name, then a line right above it. Sometimes I put a huge arrow on the ball.

With '79' on a blank part of the ball.

My goal every time I play is to break 80

I give it a green line.  Funny because I don't use the line for alignment but it helps me see the definition of the ball

    • Yeah, uhhh… keep them dry? Because, yeah, the chrome is partly to help them not rust. You could have them re-plated, though you'd have to check on the legality. You could have them refinished by a company like this: https://www.theironfactory.com (they have closed, but there are still some other companies like them). Or, use them until they rust out a bit too much, and buy a new set.
    • On further reflection, I take back my "stupid" comment. It does make sense when put in context that the rule is to prevent any external attachments to the face of the club. Any change to that rule to allow exceptions would complicate the rule unnecessarily when it is easy enough to remove the stickers, etc.  I was surprised with her coaches advice and I've told her to just remove them before any competitions.
    • Hey guys so I sanded the top.of my irons I'm worried about rust I dint know that they had a finish any helpful tips would be much appreciated
    • High school golf coaches are often not really knowledgeable about the rules, I have an issue when a coach tells a player NOT to follow A specific rule.  As for the "stupidity" of this particular rule, I can't see a way to allow SOME stuff on the club face without allowing everything on the clubface.
