hi i need 1 more club to get my set to the 14 club rule. i have a nike victory red driver ordered a victory red 3 wood, i have victory red 3-pw split cavity iron set, vr 56,60 degree wedges and a nike method putter, what do you think my 14th club should be i am thinking of a 5 wood but iam not sure.

you might want to throw in another wedge...52, 54. would guess a wedge will help more than a 5 wood.

hybrid. very handy club for long par 3s and approcahes to par 5s. 20/21 degree. then ditch the 3 iron and get a 52 degree wedge also.

Exactly. I'm down to 13 now. If you can learn to play well with 13, then you might find during a round what the 14th should be. If you keep playing your home course and thinking "well, I'd love something between my PW & SW right about now..." then it means the gap wedge would be a good choice.

Speaking of which, you have a 9 degree gap between your PW & SW. 52° wedge would be my guess for the best replacement if you decide you want exactly 14.

I'd get the 5w, and trade the 3i for a 3h. But thats just me. Or, as was said, another wedge instead of a wood.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Seemore Si-4 Black Nickel Putter

A hybrid if your long fairway lies are your greatest relative weakness, a gap wedge if your short game needs the most help. I'd go for the wedge, since sand wedges tend to have too much bounce for my preference and I wouldn't want to have to rely on a 60* for all my close shots.

If you keep track of your game you'll know what you need. Depending on how well you hit your new long irons, 3-iron to 3-wood can be a huge gap. The Nike VRs should allow you to hit a variety of shots with your PW and 9 iron, but you still may want to get a gap wedge (i.e. a 52 degree). There's no panic to buy anything though (or is there?!?!?). There was a time, not too long ago, when people didn't need gap wedges - they learned to hit 3/4 shots and knockdowns with their PW.

How very helpful of you.........

I agree with the 3 Hybrid, ditching the 3 iron, and adding another wedge. Good luck!!

I like the 5 wood idea or even a hybrid but the best club I added to my bag last season was a Cleveland Niblick 47 deg. A great scorer's club for when you are in trouble. I can swing full with it and hit it 150 yds or use it to punch out of trouble on a low trajectory. Check it out, they are great!

Cleveland Hibore 3 wood 13 deg. stiff shaftCleveland Launcher 9 deg, stiff shaft

it ALL depends on your game really.... some people add the gap wedge...some people add the 5 wood.. IF you can control your PW and SW swings to eliminate the gap b/t those clubs...then by all means go with the 5 wood... I use the standard... and then instead of a 56 I switched to a 54 SW and then added the 5 wood into the bag this year..and got rid of the 2 hybrid

5 wood is easier to hit in the rough and fairway than a 3 wood
