Yeah Its just frustrating because when I can get off the tee with my distance, my wedge game is just KILLING me. Like last Thursday. Inside 100 yards 3 out of the first 4 greens and I am 4 over par. I should be 1 to 2 under par with any sort of reasonable wedge game. Its getting to the point were I don't want to even hit driver any more because I know I will have a pitch shot. I was so glad I hit the 18th green today. I was just standing next to the green thinking, "Thank god I don't have to pitch anymore".

I couldn't tell for sure, but were you hitting them heavy? It seemed quite a few came up very short.

Not sure really, they did seem slightly heavy. I don't know, I'll just have to work at it.

Ball position perhaps?

Nah, I am pretty consistent in hitting them heaving when the ball is forward, middle and back in the stance.

Most of the chips and pitches just didn't sound clean, no nice click on contact. I was too preoccupied with my own struggles to really notice more than that.

I still think you could stand to have just a touch more weight forward with the pitches, really feeling the rotation through the shot. Your head actually tips back just a bit in the second shorter pitch at least. Maybe go back and hit some pitches with the one leg feel. Set the right leg back behind you a bit with the heal off the ground. I still do this playing sometimes when I have an uncomfortable pitch shot.

I'll try that. It just seems like all the shots are slightly heavy right now. So, probably not keeping the weight forward enough on the pitch shots. I think the best pitch shot I hit was the flop shot today were I really focused on turning around that front leg with some speed.

I thought that we weren't suppose to hit the ball first when pitching, and that is the whole point of utilizing the bounce.. or did I misunderstand what was being taught?

You misunderstood, the bounce is there in case you don't hit the ball first. Gives you more room for error.

Much better tonight, 39 (+3)

1 Birdie

4 Bogies

4 Pars

Went to the range before hand. Found out I was aiming my clubface closed to my target line to start out with. I also decided to make my grip a bit stronger. When I did this, I was hitting some nice push draws. Who knew paying attention to the ball flight laws actually works, DOH!!!

Pitching, tonight was much better. I mostly just focused on keeping my weight forward for the whole pitch. Just really focus on that pressure under my left heel. From there I hit some nice pitch shots. I only had one chunky pitch. I think that was a pitch were I didn't do the floatish feel in the backswing, but tried to force the clubhead under the ball with my wrists too much, so I ended up bottoming out slightly before the ball. The angle of attack was too steep as well.

Putting was actually pretty good. Still working on that float move in the putting stroke, it really helps out on longer putts.

Sounds great, now if only my range session would pay out as good as yours does ha.

Well I know I can hit good shots. So really the range session was just affirming what I needed to do. It was also to get my body use to finding the ball again after sitting 8 hours at a desk all day. I am really finding about 30 golf balls is a good number to get an idea of what I need to do to get a shot shape.

You need to just keep working on your swing so you get a consistent shot shape. You are missing left and right, not good. For me, my miss is a hook. So I can fix that before a round. Just keep working on getting your 5 keys better and things will work out.

Played really good except one hole. One unded thru 6, then took an 8 on a par 5. My swing had a brain fart.

I hate when that happens. If only you had a better mental game. ;-)
