Sawgrass is a fairways-and-greens course; a player who wants to win there needs to keep the ball in play first and foremost. Hunter Mahan and Ryan Moore are the tour leaders this year in total driving, and both are within the top 50 in greens in regulation. Nick Watney and Adam Scott rank within the top 12 in each category. I'm looking at those four guys this week.

67 for Moore, 69 for Watney, 70s for Mahan and Scott. My first two not listed (Heath Slocum and Tim Clark) shot 67 and 68 respectively. All of my players to watch are well in contention after 18 holes.

He has been playing the Nike SQ 2 (2, not squared) woods since they came out. They are the smallest fairway woods Nike has made since they came out and Nike's best IMO.

I dont know about you but I wouldnt want the same driver tiger has. Hes the best to play and cant hit it wortha darn.lol

It's got more to do with his low smash factor, 1.474, 161st on tour in 09. Even his average drive distance (average of all measured drivers hit) is down fairly low. When you're not hitting it well, you're not going to get as much distance.

No, it's probably more the fact that he is hitting 3W and irons. His driving distance is 250ish, not changinf his smash factor (no matter how low it is) won't make his driver 40 yards shorter.

The ball he uses. The Nike One Platinum (or Nike One Tour) is a very short ball.

Stensons last hole was kind of funny. 270 yards from tee, and then he shoots 305 yards from fairway and makes the eagle putt. He didn't use driver a single time and he was -5 for the four par 5s (is at -3 total). Think this could be an interesting week again for Stenson.

I just saw his Ping G15/I15 driver commercial a few minutes ago. "I've hit flop shots farther than that drive" LOL Classic.
