Fighting a fade and can't stop it...

Today I shot a 97 and its my 3rd time breaking 100, but I was fighting a fade that wouldn't stop. Only about 4 of my drives stayed in play and the rest faded. The trajectory is awesome, but it slowly fades. My backswing I felt didnt come over the top but somehow I cant stop my fading....Any input on tips to stop or slow down the fading.

embrace it and learn to control it. a nice little fade is the most beautiful shot in golf IMHO. not to mention all the best ball strikers in history incorporated it, nickalus, hogan, trevino, tiger used to. slice is a different story. sounds like u need to get it to fade a little less and then just aim left

we need to see a video probably to tell you how to slow it down, and just because you felt like you werent coming over the top doesnt mean you werent. where did the ball start out is the first thing we need to know, and then how drastic was the curve

I dont have any updated vids, but the curve wasn't that drastic to consider it a slice.

Nicklaus and Tiger the best ball strikers in history? Ha. Not among the top 100.

Most amateurs don't hit back of the circle fades, that's the problem.

You are probably coming over the top, hitting fades and slices. Diagnosis without a video is difficult.

There is nothing wrong with a fade. If you are struggling to break 100, the last thing you should be worrying about is a fade. Don't be shy about calling it a wicked slice. It's a pretty common problem. You aren't going to improve if you won't admit that a "fade" is really a slice.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I got a handicap 15 and still shoot over 100 on some occasions.

It happens to me also, but normally a 22 HC should play around 95 and must have been playing better then so, to reach HC 22 .... my best 9 holes this year was 37 (+2) at our front nine (35) .... my worst ..... I don't care to remember

Depending if it 'fades' or slices. If it's just pushing to the right, then use it. I have a slight draw that I use now.

A fade or draw looks great off the tee if you play it.

You don't need to fight a fade - a consistent "fade" is awesome - wish I could hit one with my mid and short irons. My buddy Sheldon played off a 4 handicap with a a power fade for years. He went in an RCMP tournament at Kananaskis (probably only relevant to Albertans) and won by 10 strokes with that fade.

It sounds like you're fighting a slice - similar but much different. Re-read the "ball flight laws" thread.

I was struggling with a push/fade/slice for a couple of weeks so maybe my opinion can help. First off, few golfers hit a perfectly straight shot. a small curve left or right is normal. A slight fade also stops quicker than a draw so it is a more "controlled" shot. I usually hit a draw with the occasional pull hook or big push.

Lately, I couldn't hit anything but push fades and nasty slices. I went too a big 3-story driving range, and went to the tee directly in front of the sliding glass entrance doors. So basically, it was like using a mirror at your local range. Anyways, my swing got a little to vertical, once I flattened out my plane a little, I was back to hitting straight shots and draws.

Also check your body alingment and grip. I often open my shoulders when I set up for a driver or fairway wood. The result is either a slice or a big fade. One good tip to use with longer clubs, is too make sure your left arm is perpendicular to your spine at the top of your swing. Your left arm and spine should form the letter "T" at the top of the backswing. Hope that helps.

I struggle with a "fade" every once in a while as well and a couple things have really helped in getting it out of my game. The first is a loose grip to help emphasize wrist action through impact and the one that made the most difference is a flat or almost bowed wrist at the top of my backswing. I still fade the ball once in awhile but my ball striking and accuracy has improved alot by double checking these 2 things in my practice swing.

Driver- Titleist 910 D3 9.5

3 Wood- Burner 15 degree
Irons- Slingshot 4I-AW
Hybrid- CPR 3 22 degree
Putter- White Hot XG 8

Battling a hook lately myself, I'd kill to have a nice little fade with my driver. That's what I'm working on right now but can't seem to fade it consistently.

      In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.

      Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?

      I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.

      Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.
