Depends where the pin is, but I do most of my chipping with a PW, SW, or my 60. If I really need to run it a long way, I'll use a 7 iron, but I don't do that as often as some guys will probably say they do. My short game is my strength so I just do what I have a feel for.

56 or 60 and let it run just pass the hole, with the 60 I will play it back in my stance.

I'll pretty much use every club in the bag, except for the putter or driver. My go to club on most chips that need to run a little is my 8 iron. If it needs to stop quick, I use the 56º.

Lately, 52*, pw, or 9 iron depending on how much green to work with and if its up hill or not.

As a few others here have said, it depends on the amount of green between me and the pin. Most of the time I prefer to bump and run it with a 7 iron but if I don't have a lot of green I use a 60* wedge.

Depends. I will use a choked down 8 iron with a putting stroke probably 10 times a round if theres no sand or water in the way even if Im close. Especially if im close. Its too easy for me to blade a SW or even a LW and send it 30 feet past the hole or to lob it up and drop it way short. im confident in my bump and run with the 8. that being said if there's water or sand it depends on lie. My 56 has a lot of bounce for lies in sand and heavy rough and my LW has low bounce for tighter lies when I need to get it up and over and stop it dead.

Depends on the pin placement relative to you
The condition of the lie
is the ball above you, below you, downslope, upslope?

If its a straight chip shot with a bit of green to work with, the lowest degreed wedge that will roll out to that pin placement, usually my 9 or 8 iron.

Assuming the ball needs to reach the green in the air, the distance for roll on the green is the main issue as to club type. Short run is a SW, long run could be 9, 7, or less, depending.

Funny....15 - 30ft, and no one here uses a putter ????

I do....so long as there is a good lie or tight fairway off the green, I will just putt...

My worse putt is a 100 times better than my worse chip...

But if the lie is not very good, thn the PW it is for me...

Usually my 52*. Maybe my 60* if I need to stick the pin. If I use an iron, which is rare, I use my 7 because it has enough loft to get the ball off the ground for a few feet but not much more and it's a comfortable length for a simple chipping motion.

I actually don't understand golfers using a SW or LW for these kind of shots, failure around the corner, you have so less roll, so you need to judge the distance so very well.

I always use my 8 iron and depending on distance to the green I vary ball position between one ball width back from the middle to about from the left ankle and also vary between a chipshot and a putting stroke. Goal is to land the ball in the first 3 ft. of the green, so the first bump is controlable in direction. I allways read the slope before playing these shots. I roll the ball from the landing zone to the hole.

Important is to whatever stance you use, hit the ball first and if you happen to thin or even top a ball you'll still get a good result most of times as the strokeforce applied is at about the distance you need for the shot.

This way is very reliable for me, have some friends that have copied this style and I must say it is easier to learn to control just one club than trying to focus on a whole bunch of varying pitches to lobs with 3 wedges.

Actually my chipping is that good, that I am a bit disappointed mostly when I don't get up and down from less then about 20 yds from the green.

My little secret is that I enjoy praticing a LOT at our 18 hole par 3 short course (best sofar 51), while others are playing the main course mostly....... practice pays off !!!

Really just depends on the conditions. If it's on a tight lie run-up to the green I've used my hybrid several times. If it's a bit thicker lie I'll use my 56* but only if it's a front to mid-front pin location, otherwise I'll pull my 9i.
