I am not one to play "dress up" when I play. Now I don't go out in tee shirts and cutoffs but its nice microfiber cargo shorts and a collar shirt - untucked. Cooler weather I wear under armour warmup pants (they look like slacks) and a fleece pullover.

Adidas is awesome in that they took the golf shoe, which was seemingly a dress shoe with spikes and made it more athletic looking. I still see guys wearing wing tip Footjoys with shorts. Uh, ok. Got a mirror at home? Did ya look in it? Now Footjoy has taken Adidas' lead and come out with a casual shoe that has more athletic look. Looks real nice.

Even the pants Adidas USED TO MAKE was waaaay cool and I would wear them. They didn't look like dress pants, they had a casual feel to them with the contrast stitiching etc, but now they seem to have reverted back to dress pants style. Sad. I check eBay everyday for the ones I am looking for to buy in case I am ever in a situation where I need to clean up a bit more. Like if I got invited to play a country club or something.

I would love to see a company come out with a line that caters to the casual dress player that doesn't want to look as if he just left church to play golf.

I have a mirror and I look into it quite often and quite often still wear my FootJoys, while not wingtipped, not the casual shoes. And I think they look great.

Casual is fine and all, but I like to look clean, nice fitted shirt tucked in, pants or shorts clean looking and still not look like I just left church.

I like my drifit Nike polo's with simple non-cargo shorts or nice nonpleated slim slacks. its not what you wear my friend, its how you wear it.

I've got a lot of golf clothes, and I wouldn't wear a lot of it in church. I'm sure if you look around, you'll find more athletic apparel, not just stiff ones.

I love colors, so I wear shirts with sharp colors, also hats and belts. Pants are black, white, beige, brown or something like that. I only use microfiber when playing golf, except a couple of pants and sweaters in cotton. Shirts in cotton is definitely not an option. Even on the hottest day, I feel somewhat comfortable because the clothes are breathing.

When it comes to shoes, there are still improvements to be made. I ordered a pair of Nike Air Max Summer this season, a pair which is a mix of running shoes and golf shoes. They got the solid sole and spikes, but the upper part of the shoe is soft, elastic and very breathable. Compared to some of the stiff and rigid other models out there, these are a relief. As long as it doesn't rain, or the ground is soaked, you won't get me to wear anything but those shoes.

If I could justify it I would be a golf shoe ho. I have a couple of pairs of classic DryJoys that are in the classic style and they look damn good. These are the next pair that I want to sport. http://www.golfsmith.com/products/30...ator_(FJ#53729 )

I try to look nice especially because we get to play some nice tracks down here. There are some guys I know that won't get the invite because they dress like slobs. I recently found some Greg Norman micro shorts at Costco for $16 and Adidas dry shirts for $20. Score.

The places I play are all public, so the average joe is playing in cargo shorts and a t-shirt usually a wife beater. I still like to look like I didn't step out of the trailer park though. Any combination of collared microfiber shirt and shorts from nike/UA/izod/adidas fits the bill. I certainly wouldn't wear them to church though.....if I did go to church. I was only kidding on teh wife beater thing, but I have seen one woman with a pair of daisy dukes on.

I get all my golf wear from TJ Maxx on the cheap. My wife calls me a maxxinista! LOL

This completes what might be a good idea. On January 30, we should try playing golf dressed as Payne Stewart. Or maybe as Bobby Jones on his birthday (March is more into golf season).

The closest to "dress up" that I've done for golf is wearing the black & red, usually just on Sundays. Sometimes I've played quite well on those days; other times, quite poorly. If I find light blue pants, I might do a blue & gold (my undergrad and grad schools' colors).

I like dressing for golf, part of the whole game for me

I wear Nike Dry Fit polo's (have them in Green/Red/White/Black) along with Nike Dry Fit trousers in Black and Brown, I also have the Dry Fit shorts in black (for the short summer we have here in the UK LOL) I wear a white belt with all my trousers/shorts.
In winter I have a pair of Stromberg trousers as these are thicker and I wear Under Armor beneath my golf shirts and jumpers.
I then have Adidas Tour 360 3.0 for the most of the year with Footjoy Golf Athletics (look more like trainers) for when I wear my shorts and summer.

A fine choice in shoe there & a great deal on the Norman shorts. The majority of my golf wear is Norman.

Function is more important than style when im looking for golf apparel. Ill wear any make ( i have addais and nike stuff down to pebble beach brand) but it has to fit and do what i want it to do. Which is keep me comfortable when i play.

I wear Nautica cotton polo shirts and Dockers cotton khakis. Seem fine to me.

Well, I suppose that I would be called a clothes horse. Beside wearing Tommy Bahama slacks Or Nike whites, I typically will wear my Foot Joy Icons or my TW shoes to golf in. My fellows call me fancy pants but..... aside from wanting to look like a golfer, I want to show the game the respect that its due. Remember, it wasn't that long ago that men wore collar shirts with a neck tie and slacks with a coat to golf in. It was a gentle mens game and to me it still is. Just my opinion but you guys can continue to look as ratty as you wish.

Completely agree, I like golfers that look serious but still comfortable when they play. If I see a golfer playing around with cargos and a t-shirt or a poorly ironed polo, i can't help but laugh my ass off at them. When I play with strangers who find weird the fact that I wear proper trousers with a Fred Perry polo, I just let my game do the talking. After shooting 76, they don't have nothing to say. The fact that I beat these hackers, dressed quite casually, with an index of 13 by 15/20 shots is priceless.

I thought 'dressing up' is more of an etiquette than showing off.
But the more I get to see nicer clothes, the more I want to dress up myself.
I also like colors, but not Ian Poulter crazy colors. Something more subtle like Tiger or AK.

But then I think to myself that I should improve my game more before paying big bucks for apparel.
When I'm able to hit consistently in the lower teens is when I'm buying nicer clothes. :)

I like to dress "nice" most of the time. At work I wear wool trousers and nice shirts (golf type in the summer, button downs in the cooler months). I have a number of pairs of nice micro-fiber shorts and slacks and polyester/technical fabric golf shirts. Shirt always tucked in, ankle socks with shorts and shoes cleaned (if not polished). Show respect for the game and my fellow golfers I guess. Have a very nice pair of brown/dark brown wingtips - but reserve those for wearing with long pants. I do like the more athletic/european style shoes for wearing with shorts.
