Following today's victory with Dave Wedzik in the Western New York Pro-Assistant, I'd like to announce my retirement from tournament golf. I'm going out on top, and with a perfect record to boot. Take that, Tiger!

Just joking.

Dave and I did win the tournament though, beating 26 other teams of two in a better-ball round today at Brookfield Country Club near Buffalo, NY. We shot 68 to edge a good friend and our (jokingly) "arch nemesis" Dwayne Randall and his assistant Brad Smith.

The course was wet and playing really long, so the distance Dave and I can hit the ball came in handy. I personally started off pretty darn shaky until the back nine because my alignments had gotten really, really closed.

We felt that we had to birdie two of the last three holes and we did, both parring 18 after decent looks at birdie.

Had a blast. Didn't get rained on, and the sun even came out a few times. Temperatures got as high as 62 or so!

Edit: Oops - forgot the links.

Congratulations and did you get any positive feedback on your golf club swing method?

"Guys like you that hit the ball a long way" and so on. But no... it's just a small tournament. The only people watching were the other pros at 18 and the two others in our group.

Way to go! At the trophy presentation, please tell me y'all said "we're

No, but the tournament was sponsored by Mizuno and I have their driver and wedges, so the guy was happy. We did say "Stack and Win!" though as a joke to the twads who say "stack and shank" or whatever other clever things they make up.

First ever pro tournament? or first EVER tournament?

First pro tournament. I've played lots of tournaments. Won the EDGA Junior Stroke play

when I was 17 (1995). Technically I guess the PAT was my first "tournament," but calling that a "tournament" is probably not accurate. So first "pro" tournament. Thanks, all, for the congrats.

They're not really tournaments that people attend. Members play right after us. It's really not too big a deal, even for those playing in it.

AND their irons it looks like........hahha!

Actually I have Miura irons in play right now.

In Texas, we have a saying, "All hat, no cattle" which might apply to someone giving advice about something but really not having the creds to do so. Well, you now have offical "cattle" or creds with that win. Oh... maybe just a cow since it was just one tournament, but your junior win should count so Sand Trappers, let's agree, Erik now has hat and cattle. Way to go, kid. I'll bet there are a lot of Sand Trappers who used information from Sand Trap to have good golf years or improvement this season.

Thanks. The way I see it my "cattle" will always be the people I help, not the one or two tournaments I might play per year (I may play a few more next year, I don't know - I'm still just a level 1 PGA apprentice after all), but it's good.

Or maybe the people I help are my dairy cows and this is a beef cow. Or a chocolate cow for chocolate milk. I don't know. Thanks.
