Let me start by saying I don't own a pair of golf pants. I was wondering how many of you wear them and why, and those who don't and why. I am open to getting a pair of two when the season kicks off in a few months here in NY. I am still actively playing put wear khakis and wind pants over them so no real point right now. What do you all think?

I just wear regular pants. Pleated or flat front, and most any color works as long as it is coordinated with your shirt and accesories. Most of the time the only difference I have seen in "golf pants" is some of them have an extra little pocket on them or some material may be breathable, but not much else.

I have a pair of J Lindeberg golf pants that I rarely wear since they are kind of tight fitting. Really hard to squat down to read the greens with them on. Even worse when it's hot out. I bought a pair of Banana Republic khakis on sale for $20 and a brown Adidas belt for $10 in the fall and have been wearing that quite often. I match it with black Adidas Tour 360 4.0 Sports and usually a black sweater or a black polo. If its really cold out, I'd put on thermals underneath the khakis instead of the rain pants on top since the khakis do a decent job of keeping the wind out. During the warmer months, I am usually wearing shorts 90% of the time I golf but if you plan on getting some pants for the warmer months, try those wrinkle-free lightweight breathable chinos.

I have the C9 Golf pants from Target... They're fairly inexpensive and I really like them... I also have the shorts...

I don't own Golf Pants or Shorts. I just play in khaki pants and shorts. I want some Loudmouth Pants and Shorts. I haven't seen anyone wear those around here.

I own a few...

I prefer to play in khakis but in 'long pants' weather...you're getting mud flecks on your pants a lot of the time. I find that the golf pants or pants with some synthetic fiber in them (as opposed to 100% cotton) don't take as bad of a beating from the mud.

Plus, synthetics are a lot cooler in hot weather. A big plus if you like to, or ever have to, wear pants to play a round in the summer.

The group I play with every week prefer to tee off around 7:45 am. I wear Nike Dri Fit pants. Love them. Since we walk, these pants are great when the weather is a bit chilly and great when it warms up during the day. I will wear shorts on occasion, but prefer pants now.

I wear shorts 99% of the time and the few odd times when it was cold enough to wear pants, I wore the Izod microfibers that I usually sport at work.  I don't know if they are golf specific, but they do the job, look great and never wrinkle.

I usually play in cotton dress slacks which I've used for a few months. I don't wear really good, new slacks for golf unless I'm playing at a fancy club. (Also, the upscale clubs have pretty strict dress codes: shirt tail tucked in, no frayed trouser cuffs, etc.)

If you get official golf pants, make sure you get each leg spined and pured. Otherwide, you might push or pull your drives.

I have a pair of Nike Dri Fit's I got from the Nike Outlet for $25.

They're quite a bit lighter than other pants and are pretty breathable.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

I'm becoming a fan of synthetic fibers in golf pants  -- they are cool, don't absorb sweat, and dry quickly. Some synthetics are heavier. If you want a blend of synthetic-natural that can be light or medium weight, try Tommy Bahama pants that can be found on ebay - they are great on the golf course and a night on the town. Another great store on ebay is namebrandgolfshirts - they usually have under $20 deals on shirts and pants.

I have quite a few pairs of golf pants. Under Armour, Nike, Dockers, Puma, Adidas all have great lines. looking to get a pair or two of loudmouths this year hopefully to wear on those...great occasions lol i prefer wearing pants all the time unless it's really hot and i'm walking...otherwise i'll just wear golf pants b/c as others have mentioned, they breathe a LOT better than work pants/slacks.

No frayed trouser cuffs?
Wow, that is a strict dress code.
I remember Craig Stadler always wore slacks that seemed two inches too long.
I bet he had some frays after 18 holes of walking.

Have you been able to compare the C9 pants to any of the bigger brands (nike, adidas, UA)? I'm interested in them. I purchased C9 compression mock for winter play, and it worked really well. I'm thinking these clothes are all made at the same factory in china or whatever, and just have a different brand stamped on them.

I have always used normal pleated trousers and have never really looked at the true golf range of trousers, how ever at Christmas my missus got me a couple of pairs of Adidas trousers,  one is a thicker sort of material for colder weather while the other for the warmer weather.

I have to admit I am very impressed and will now probably stick to buying trousers from the Golf manufacturers but I suppose time will only tell.

The schoolteacher was taking her first golfing lesson. "Is the word spelt p-u-t or p-u-t-t?" she asked the instructor. "P-u-t-t is correct," he replied. "Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."
