Seems like every 2 seconds, watching the Open, the announcers mention Tiger Woods. Enough already. I know they love Tiger and wish he was back but the truth is that he's done and will, IMHO, never win another major. It's Mcilroy's to win now and Woods has nothing to do with it.

I actually haven't heard much Tiger talk at all on the NBC broadcast. The few times they have it's been like "Rory is playing Tiger-like" and things like that, but they haven't been talking about him no being there or speculating on when he'll be back or talking about his run at the Masters.

I haven't heard the word "Tiger" that I remember yet today. Or most of the rest of the week.

All I remember them saying about Tiger was comparisons of Rory's performance to Tiger's records.  But I guess I thought the discussions on NBC were about Rory, not Tiger.

Yeah, I'll believe the other guys over you.  You just joined today and every single one of your messages bashes Tiger.  Which essentially means that except among a very small coterie of posters you have 0 credibility.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I agree but - like someone else posted - you yourself have commented on Tiger or referenced him in every single one of your first twelve posts on this web forum! I'd bet that people who hate Tiger make mention of him more than his fans...

He can't take credit for that. A moderator or admin must have given him that avatar...

I found it funny how Tiger wasn't even interviewed during any of the broadcast that I saw.      I guess he didn't want to take away from what Rory was doing, but I would have thought his face would have been on the Golf Channel somewhere over the weekend ...

You mean you expected Tiger to call in or something on the telecast? Doesn't sound like a Tiger thing to do...

Yeah, why talk about one golfer who obliterated a US Open field while another guy is obliterating a US Open field - there's no connection at all there.......wait....

Why?

Why should he be interviewed?

Nicklaus was interviewed. He's retired and demonstrably the best player in history.

Tiger is not retired. He's demonstrably the second best player in history.

Why wasn't Tom Watson interviewed? Why not Nick Faldo?

Do you think that someone who wished he was playing would WANT to be interviewed? It's not his fault he wasn't invited to.

Seeing the way thay course was playing would have broken poor Tiger's heart.

The implication in lots of these threads is that Tiger is mean spirited and won't give other players credit.

IS he supposed to ring up the networks and demand to have air time? And he did congratulate Rory anyway.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I don't remember hearing much about Tiger the entire weekend.  He was only mentioned during the comparisons, when he made is commnet on Rory's play and again, during comparisons.

We just saw one of the best Golf performances on TV since Tiger's performance at Pebble in 2000.  Of course his name would be mentioned at some point or another.  Comon now...

Exactly right. I didn't see anything wrong with it, and I'm not what you'd call a Tiger supporter.

    • Same here. Seems quite a few of my fundamentals had strayed and Erik had to get me back on track. It was kind of surprising how bad I had gotten off.
    • I would like to point out I was not complaining about hot summers;  rather, I enjoy them.  It's the coming cold cold winter I'm about to face that worries me.
    • From late 2022 until a few months ago, I barely played (maybe two dozen rounds, total, and only four rounds in 2024).  I had my first lesson in ages (Skillest, with Erik) and grip was part of it -- mine really did get into a bad spot, and I had to (and still have to) practice the new one.  It still feels odd, but that's a good thing when adjusting (otherwise I'm probably doing the previous).   I'm going back into the office for the first time since then and I'm tempted to take a small section of pipe, keep it in a desk drawer, and periodically take it out to practice my grip.
    • Great episode on GAPs. I agree 100%, this needs to be consistent. It is something you have complete control over to a high level of repeatability and precision. It is such low hanging fruit as well.  My own tendencies.  Grip - Can get too strong. I tend to not get much grip with my left pinky, and the grip can feel like it slips more into the palm. I mess around with grip size and tap wraps. I wonder if I need to get away from a big taper.  Stance - Use to be too far right. I noticed, for the first time ever, I was aiming too far left on the course last week. It was like 5-10 yards left of the target, not 20-30 yards right. Overcorrection. 🤣 It is getting better.  Posture - Way better now that I stretch and work on mobility. I could tell years ago that if I tried to keep my knees less bent, get more on the balls of my feet, I felt a stretch in my calves and hamstrings. Now, I don't, and it helps. I think people might avoid that stretch feeling because it might feel unnatural. I used to be head up as well, looking too much down the bridge of my nose. I still can catch myself doing that, especially on shorter irons. I think I have average ankle mobility. I do have to use elevated heels when I squat at the gym, or I tend to fall over forward.  I agree, if you are not practicing this then you can become lax. For about the entire first half of this season, I was just waltzing up to the ball without aiming. I still catch myself being lazing. I have to step back and actually aim. I think adding this into your practice sessions is easy. Just do it before ever rep at the range. Just make it a conscious effort on the course.  For the tee shot, the only time you can kind of use an alignment aid (other divot or maybe something is lying on the ground). I tend to use that to help me aim. I try to imagine a straight line that I align my body to.
