Big week! who you on this week?

Im hoping that AK has been given a scare of only making it in as an alternate and has a big week this week (although i won't hold my breath).

I'll miss every minute of the coverage this year unfortunately. Just a few preditions.

Winner - one of Goosen, Donald, Day, or Westwood.  If I had to bet, it'd be on Westwood.

AK - missed cut

When the sun emerges above the English Channel next Sunday morning, it will appear to be shining the brightest over the British Isles, as Britons and Irishmen will constitute the majority of the names on the canary scoreboard hovering over Royal St. George's18th green. The newsstands will be filled with stories of the two Englishmen and the Ulsterman ranked 1-2-3 in the world, all in a position to win the world's oldest championship; of Justin Rose, who captured Britain's imagination as a 17-year-old amateur in 1998, but has competed without distinction at the Open until this moment; of Darren Clarke, a decade removed from contending for major titles, but showing signs of life after a period filled with injury and tragedy; of Martin Laird and Rhys Davies, young men with the dreams of Scotland and Wales resting on their shoulders; and of Simon Dyson, the last man into the field, making the most of his long-shot opportunity, and the last of eight players from the British Isles filling the first ten places on the leaderboard.

When the sun sets beyond the Kent horizon Sunday evening, though, none of these men will be carrying the Claret Jug.

I like Rory for this one again. Think he's about to start a historic tear.

Sentimental South African pick: Goose. Eight top 10s in his 16 Opens. That's pretty solid.

Who I want to win: Luke or Lee. Get the damn monkey off one back at least.

To further elaborate on my prediction for this championship, I believe the winner will be someone exempt from regional qualifying, from a country that has not yet produced an Open champion. That qualifier produces a range of 27 players:

      To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
