  1. 1. Do you ride a cart or walk?

i walk ...i will never ride a cart again unless i'm in some company tourney and everyone rides.

but i think this game was meant to be walked on, not driven on.

i noticed at my public course...they had a shortage of carts for about 2 months and the course was pretty much empty...then they got new carts and it's unbearable. 5 to 6 hour rounds.

do you guys walk it or ride it?

I ride. It's averaging high 90's, and very high humidity... I'll take the breeze from a cart any chance I get.

Plus carts are included at the place I play.

I coulda sworn I left the cart right here......

I walk when I can...most courses around here have a good bit of distance between green and t-box.  I find when I walk I play better...especially when I walk up to the green, I can see the breaks and slopes much better.

I think that walking is the only way to go.  I believe golf carts promote laziness.  There are reasons that the US is now the fattest nation in the world.  I'm not saying that walking 18 holes is the greatest of exercise, but its better then walking 200 feet total the entire round.  Also I have never seen a slow walking golfer, but I have seen a ton of slow people in golf carts.  Also courses would be a little nicer if they didn't have golf carts rolling in certain areas.  Just my 2 cents.

I walk for several reasons. I avoid cart only courses. If there comes a time when I physically can't walk and at least carry a partial set in a Sunday bag, then Ill probably find another hobby.  If people live somewhere where walking is not possible in the summer, or they're physically unable to walk the course, then kudos for finding another way, but personally, I'll take a pass on cart golf.

I like to walk whenever I can. There is one course near me that I like to play once or twice a year that requires a cart. It also requires a lot of money, hence the once or twice a year. Other than that, unless Im in an outing or tournament I enjoy walking.

I have a bad back - if I play 9 after work, I'll walk & use a pull cart.     18, definitely have to drive.

I use a push cart. I've walked 36 a couple times this year, pretty tired after that.

looks like the consensus is walking. i can definitely understand riding if you have a bad back or it's just too hot and humid...100s. especially when the course is hilly.

i think if you're not injured and the weather permits, the course should be walked for all the reasons you guys mentioned.

i just got back into this game from a long lay off...started back up 3 months ago and i've walked everytime...it's a good 5 mile walk everytime and i think i lost about a good solid 10lbs from the sweat.

just got back from my round today and it was scorching hot even with the wind. shot a 8 over on a par72. happy with my game! plus i got some 'oversized' mizuno clubs...10times better than my titleist 990 DCI's...i'm selling them if anyone wants to buy them for $100 :)

there good clubs...just made for the single handicapper!

On rare occasion I will play a course with a friend that forces me to ride, but I walk every Sunday, year round, at my home course.

Today was 104, but the humidity was down a bit (monsoons took a break for a few days). Next Sun. the monsoons will be back, temps will be high 90s likely, and humid.

Yea, I get tired this time of year walking the course, but I personally believe that the game was/is meant to be walked.

Maybe when I get old I'll ride, but as I'm only 56, that may take a while.

Walk if I can. Depensd on how hot it is and how bad my sciatica is on the day.

8/10 times I have to use a cart. Besides - it's better for holding more beer.

It's not always laziness or age that causes some people to ride.

It seems most of your posts are childish. Think before you type.

Another one that pretty much has to ride..a lot of old baseball injuries that just kill me if I walk a course.  Knees, ankles, back...pretty much the most important parts of a golfers body

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

It is almost compulsory to use cart in china . However , i prefer walking , unless the course is very hilly .

Why do you single out my posts as childish?

I was merely stating that I will always walk at the courses I play until I reach a certain age where I no longer can do this or else where I reach a mental state in my life where I become lazy. Where's the childishness in that?

Yet another person with a vendetta against me, it seems.

I walk 9 but ride 18. Fact is in my experience walkers slow the pace immensely, especially if they're carrying their bags. If I ever see a group of 4 walking I skip the hole

In my  2.0 Lite bag:

Driver:  Superfast 10.5* stiff flex

3 Wood:  Superfast 2.0

4-SW: SQ Machspeed

GW:  52.08

Putter:  Rossa Daytona

Depends on the course and what I feel like doing.  There is one course by me that is so hilly it is not fun at all to walk, I tried it once....never again.

I walk 90% of the time but I like getting a cart every now and then.

    • Better stuff today.  Backswing mapping, watching the club go back to where I want it, pause and feel the position, take it back to address, and repeat while looking at the ball.  Some feels I am playing around with.  1) Feeling like my right hand is pushing out away from me to keep the right arm extended. Really actively resist the momentum of the swing to collapse the right arm. I can't do this early because I will just push my hands outward. It's like A2.5 to A3.5.  2) Feeling a bit less flex in the left wrist at A3. I can't do this much or I will just roll the club inside. I caught myself doing this a few times and stopped.  3) Like above, feeling the overall body position at A3. I ideally want my swing to be A3.5 in length. Downswing, I got to really feel the pause again.  I also was doing some downswings while looking at the club at A3-A4 just to make sure it was going down and not out. I kind-of can hit the ball flush while not even looking at the ball. 🤣 Yea, trying to disconnect the hands down and tilting back to lower the club is difficult.  Also, even if I get my hands down better, I end up hitting straight hooks or flipping straight cuts. The club doesn't come in flush a lot. I definitely feel a flip at the ball the ball most of the time.
    • Day 4 March 15th, 2025 hit about 20 golf balls, a lot of non-hitting practice. Backswing length to A3 feels, downswing stuff.
    • Take this with a grain of salt but, when I see high speed/high leverage freewheeling swings like yours (from your swing video), it makes me think that considering the combo of outward and downward pressure required, you might not be applying sufficient downward pressure through impact. Tendency is more out than down. A good analogy is keeping an inflated ball pushed down underwater in a pool. I think it is the hardest force/pressure component to master.  It's a guess. I also think back pain is a symptom, theoretically speaking.
    • Heron Ridge in Virginia Beach yesterday, hole #7 for those in the area.  Would this box be considered an immovable obstruction with free relief?  (It was in my back swing as the hole was to the left of my ball in the picture.)  You can see that it sits just off the cart path.  How about all the mud and tire tracks?  When I addressed the ball my feet were sinking in wet mud so I took relief for standing water.  Right or wrong?  Thoughts?
