I'm confused about Bennet. He definitely acts like a jerk, but at the same time he's kinda playing the game the way he needs to - as in "every man for himself". Conversely, I think Nicole is also a bit of a jerk, at least on the course.

I agree, the guy is a jerk. Bad attitude and changing things around. Why single yourself out at the beginning? Make friends and then go all out with the "one against all" mentality in the later shows. Right now, I'm betting on Matt, he appears to have the most game. As far as the ladies, I'll root for Mallory.

In my :nike:  bag on my :clicgear: cart ...

I think this as well....and I suppose this is what I was trying to imply about my first post about Bennet...

Nina Rodriguez played golf from the same place that I took it up; San Jose State University. SJ is actually her home town. I'd be kidding myself if I said she was an exception: there are plenty of other talented ladies around these parts.

Damn good program @ my school it seems.

As much as I love golf, I can't imagine what it is like to grind away week after week without the same resources that top tour players have.

In the bag:
Ping G5 Driver 9 degree, Ping G10 3-wood, Nike 3 hybrid, TaylorMade R9 Irons 4-AW, Cleveland CG15 56 and 60 degree wedges, Odyssey 2-ball blade putter

I'm with ya there. I don't think they show even 10 mins of the show at any one time before they go to commercial. On a side note, I love me some Nina.

If nothing else, the timing worked out well for Anthony, like a high level warm up. I'd guess he will be in PGA Q School first stage in a few weeks. Last year he made it to second stage.

I looked at his Timberlake stats and one of them was shocking: He averaged 338.5 yards on the first day, 2nd longest in the entire field. I don't remember anything resembling that type of distance during his two Big Break appearances at Mesquite and Dominican Republic.

Otherwise, his ball striking was poor, a low percentage of greens in regulation. And he made far too many mistakes. That seems to be the theme among Big Break players who play big tour events; they can't limit the above-par holes. Ryann has the same tendency but she typically overcomes it with high percentage of birdies. Gerina (Mendoza) Piller actually is the steadiest of the Big Break alums. She has a chance at a long LPGA career, particularly if she increases her birdie rate just enough.

Mallory proved she's a better golfer than they were giving her credit for this week.  At first I questioning Bennets heart with his decision to sit out of the competition but it appears he was really sick.

I agree, Mallory stepped up and did what she needed to do. I was surprised to see Matt go so early though. I really thought he would be one of the finalists. Matt can pretty much blame Mark for being in elimination in the first place. I was shocked to see him get so excited over the other team celebrating their win the immunity challenge.

I was also expecting Matt to go on further. I'm happy Mallory is still around though.

    • There's no such thing as the spirit of the rule. And, you do realize how insanely small the time window and the level of water is for water to come up with one person standing there but not another person, right? It's basically never going to actually happen like that. There are lots of rules like this: a 7' tall person's knee height drop is from higher up than a 4' tall junior's drop. Their driver is also longer, so they get a larger relief area. What are you gonna do? Beyond that, my reply to you is the same as @DaveP043's: write a better one. This one is easy to understand and enforce. The penalty for playing from a wrong place is two strokes, so no, it's not significant. In that sense, the potential advantage must be > 2 strokes. No, it's not "irrespective of it." That's why the penalty exists. If it's significant, it's a DQ, which is the ultimate penalty. See above. They don't need to judge that. No, he didn't. He could have taken one stroke to drop in the same place. This was already stated. Instead, he paid two. Of course they do.
    • Yes, a ball going faster will go farther… but it's nearly impossible for "all other parameters" to remain the same. "A ball going faster with the same of everything else will go farther" is pretty rudimentary stuff. The entire swing. The handle moves the whole time. The golf swing is a matter of both translational and rotational forces. And yet it's also kicked out a little, as it's not directly behind the motion of the hand path at that instant.
    • bought a used epic driver 3 years ago treated me well i am 72 bought with senior shaft a friend of bought a brand new  ping 440 claims he hits straighter and added 10 to 15 yards on his drive i know drivers are the most frequent club bought is a new driver that much better
    • It's true that it is not always clear where to draw the line of "significant". But I would argue that saving half a stroke or more is definitely more than significant. According to the common meaning of "significant", which is all we have because the word is not defined elsewhere in the rules.  This is irrespective of the two stroke penalty for playing from a wrong place. That penalty is only for when there was no significant advantage.  And it is possible to tell to some certainty whether a stroke or half a stroke was saved by such tools as strokes-gained, experience of officials, etc. Applying the conditions listed in the definition of serious breach.  In the example in which a player gave themselves free relief from a boundary object, if relief was necessary, then that wrong place gave a significant advantage.  Though apparently there is some sort of verbal tradition that tournament officials have a higher standard of what they consider "significant". Much higher than one stroke. And they like to take into account that the player already received a two-stroke penalty, though that is not in the rules for determining what is a "significant advantage".
