Back to it after taking off lifting due to the tennis elbow.  And, of course, I forgot my elbow brace.

25 minutes on the elliptical - set pretty high

a few rounds of upper body (one round is five sets - chest, back, shoulders, bi's, tri's)

then elbow therapy

then stretching

kept it simple and monitored the elbow healing - hopefully not overdoing it

I REALLY want to return to full workouts (and climbing and kayaking and hitting that annoying golf ball)

Tennis elbow is a biatch!

Back at it today...started with slow, strict form, wide grip pullups, 4 sets. No neck issues, so I finished heavy with my normal workout. Neck and shoulder feel good.

I'm sure it'll flare up occasionally, but it doesn't seem to affect my strength, and lifting doesn't seem to affect it...so woohoo!

Elliptical machine for 10 minutes!

First non-biking cardio in 4 months!!!

Nice. I've been trying to hit the portable stationary bike 3 times a week or so. I hate cardio so much lol

I agree on that. I rather do circuit training with light weights or body weight only exercises than do cardio. Usually my cardio is a lot of HIIT like sprinting.

I won't be able to sprint for at least another few weeks. Baby steps.

Chest yesterday. Normally pair shoulders in, but took it easy with the nerve and all.

I'll see how it is on Friday, and I'll just hit shoulders then if all is well.

Weighed in at 166.4 this morning, down over 10 lbs since I started in October. Final push until the first of the year, then I get to clean bulk...the fun part!

Was hoping to get into the 150s, but it's unlikely that I can drop that low without losing muscle. So I'm thinking I'll probably get down to 161 or so, which'll put me around 12% bodyfat. Then I'll try to put on 1.5-2 lbs of muscle a month for 3-4 months, and then cut back down for my wedding on June 13th.

Thanks. Everything has to go right for it to happen though. No injuries, no lapses in diet...

Hard to keep up solid for 8 months, so we'll see how it plays out haha

So I started my workout today and then we had a fire drill at work.  I am in shorts and a workout shirt and wet with sweat.  It is 35 degrees out and drizzling.  I had a towel to put over my head.  I got lots of laughs then luckily the nurse at work had a blanket handy.  I looked like a disaster victim.

Ha, yeah that's the toughest part. As long as I have a gym, I have no problems lifting. But diet is always the toughest. It's the reason you see people in the gym every day for 2 years and they make no progress and wonder why...

If I didn't think that the weights would fall through my floor into the apartment below me, I would probably get one to ;-)

Dude, I'm super jealous. That's the one I wanted, but was too cheap to pony up the extra $100...especially because I didn't have a bench, so I would have had to buy that too haha.

    • A nice consistent road is just as satisfying as a round with a few outstanding shots. nice round.
    • Foundation Session #2
    • I shot an 85 yesterday without any shots that really stood out as spectacular to me.  On the first nine, the highest SG shots that didn't originate on a tee were a 22 yard chip from the rough to 6' and sinking a 10' putt (not the same hole).   On the second nine, driver 4-hybrid to 17' on a 421 yard par-4 was pretty cool.  Sinking a 15' putt for par on the 420-yard par-4 15th was my largest SG of the day (0.98 vs 10 hcp), and that one goes on my acting resume because when it went in, I acted like I wasn't surprised I made the putt.   I'm a lot happier with that round than this post indicates.  It shows I can play to a pretty good score (a 10-11 handicap shooting 85 on a 70.9 / 125 / 6400 yard is a good performance I think) without having to work miracles.
    • Shot an 85 yesterday (posts as an 84).  40 first nine, 45 second nine.  Only two holes worse than bogey:  a double on a par-4 and a totally preventable snowman on the par-5 18th (the one where Arnold Palmer once made a 12 during the L.A. Open). Bogeyed every par-3.  Par-5s were 6-6-8 (there are only three).  Lots of work to improve upon these.  Especially performance on 18: wild tee shot, great recovery, good third I thought, but it somehow drew against a left-to-right wind and finished barely in bounds, where all I could do is smack with a putter towards the green.  And I did, leaving it in the rough for my fifth.  Chip way past the hole, putt 5' past the cup, a miss, and a tap in to complete the snowman.  Played the par-4s in a cumulative 5-over (there are eleven), one of which was a double.  Strokes gained: par-4s during the round gains 2.16 over the 5-handicap baseline, that's pretty cool. No birdies.  Only 5 GIR, 7 near-GIR, and one green hit on a full swing that wasn't for GIR (par-4 9th, drive, recovery, sand wedge to the green).
