I am glad that this match up is happening because Stevie has been saying so much stuff. I have to be honest, i feel bad for Adam because he has to play well for his team and for his loud mouth caddy. Tiger is in a win win situation because two of his good friends are going to tee it up in the same group with him. So i hope Adam brings his A game because Tiger has a little extra motivation this week.

The captains, Greg and Fred, can both say till they are blue in the face this wasn't orchestrated..and Greg even took it to the point in previous interviews how he felt Him vs Tiger back in 1998 was for pure publicity and he didn't want to have any of it, and how he would not do that this time around...but that this pairing just happened to fall on "chance".

ok.

but I myself am glad to see it happening and I could care less whether its for publicity or not :) I want to see the showdown down under.

I just hope there won't be any bad mouthing out there. I'm sure at least three of them are grown up enough to stay away from such behavior, so it should be fine. Let the golf do the talking and give the audience a good match. I'm more interested in the golf than their quarrelling.

Can't wait to watch it.  I bet Stevie doesn't say anything to Tiger; Adam will have him muzzled.

I  don't think there will be any trash talking ,Tiger has never bickered back and forth with anyone.I guess Stevie is unpredictable so who knows what will come out of his mouth. Adam really does have alot of pressure on him because the media will be swarming this final foursome. Stevie is going to be Stevie and probably give Tiger a hand shake but no eye contact, especially if Tiger hits a clutch shot shot to seal the deal. This will be a great match up and i think is a nice way to end day 1.

There will be no trash talking. Tiger will not even acknowledge Stevie. He has work to do.

What will be interesting will be the end-of-round handshakes & how that will, uh, shake out.

Believe this match was staged and for day 1 to get it behind them.....Now if Tiger/Adam play singles.....That's anuther story.  I expect Stevie will be on best behavior.

I'm guessing both captains agreed to put them out together on the first day just to get the media frenzy over with early.

The guy is really milking his chances to dish out crap on his former boss, way distasteful, especially in public forum.  I almost hope he does something so crude that Adam drops him before the event ends.

You'd think Stevie was playing and Adam was carrying his bag the way it's being promoted.  It's tough for Adam because Stevie is a good caddie but Adam doesn't need all these distractions.

I just saw the group being announced on the first tee. Tiger shook hands and acknowledged Steve and even looked him in the face as he did so. This just shows the class that Tiger has and that all this really is just hype by the media. Greg and Freddy said this issue is closed and Tiger and Steve seemed to agree.

Looks like Adam Scott is gonna have a smile on his face.

Tiger is playing poor golf. Surprise. Stricker can't make up for him.

The announcers are still mentioning the caddy crap.

O, I just noticed. Stevie doesn't even play today.

Yep - Franky picks it again!!!
Yes - you could see how much Tiger enjoyed himself, playing with two of his good friends.

Must have been a really heart-warming afternoon for him.

Definitely a "win win".

The 7 and 6 result was almost incidental, because Tiger had such a great time with his buddies.

Poor old Adam Scott. Poor fellow.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I still believe Tiger is a good pick for the team. However, he and Steve just had no mojo out there today. And Adam Scott played incredible. I think every shot he hit into a green was within 10 feet. K.J put him in great positions in the fairway.

It wasn't even a fair fight...since Steve and Tiger couldn't remotely put their best foot forward...but great great shotmaking and playing by Scott and Choi. Very impressed.

Hopefully Tiger and Steve can perform better at least individually moving forward.

btw, I don't think the tensions between Tiger and Williams or their relationship had an impact on the score or the way the match went down..I think Tiger and Steve just got out played, period.

Tiger and Steve were flat, but it's interesting how the media is focused so much on the Tiger half.  Stricker has been hurt and hasn't played since the tour championship.  He really didn't look sharp in the first round.  Maybe they'll both play better with different partners.

A friend and I watching last night thought it was going to be tough for Tiger to overcome Stricker. He hasn't played, he's been injured. Stricker did NOTHING yesterday, including dumping one in that bunker 30+ yards short from 170? Who does that? That was a terrible shot right when they needed something. Tiger lands it on the green off the tee on the par four (13?), and they LOSE the hole because Stricker's chip stops 25 feet away? What was that?

Tiger didn't play great, but we put the loss as 75% Steve's fault, 25% Tiger's. Tiger could have been playing A+ golf and they'd still have lost.

That shot shocked me.  I believe he had a 5i in hand?  As a top level professional, how the heck do you, from a perfect lie, fan a 5i and hit it 140 yards into a green side bunker?

Stricker also had some errant tee shots that they didn't show when Tiger was playing from the crap.  I would say it was 80% Steve 20% Tiger.

Agree 100%.  Steve was abysmal....If there's ultimately an issue with Team USA it may be Steve not withdrawing to let Kegan play!!!JMHO
