Stricker is carrying an injury. Really, the question is whether he's fit to play at all.

My take on Tiger and Stricker : They got beat by good play early. It was clear early that SS was not going to make many putts. Scott and Choi continued to play great and make putts. Both Tiger and Srticker started pressing and going for shots that were high risk and reward. Missed some easy chances too. Just one of those days. I'm just glad it is only one point. If you could lose points for style, they would have lost three or four. It was a total beat down.

I DVR'd the matches last night, and was unable to avoid hearing about the Woods/Stricker result before I watched it. Knowing the outcome, I was still interested in how it happened. Here's my observations:

1) Adam Scott was playing really well. He and Choi didn't make many mistakes, but when they did, they almost always recovered well. Scott's bunker shot to a few inches around the 9th or 10th hole is a perfect example.

2) Without a detailed analysis of every hole, I thought the poor play was shared relatively evenly between Tiger and Stricker. Tiger put at least a couple of short-iron approaches too deep, and left Stricker in bad positions. The tee shot at the third comes to mind, where Tiger put in the bunker over the green. Clearly they were both off their games, and were never really able to string enough good shots together to manage a birdie, much less put any pressure on their opponents.

And would someone tell Paula Creamer that Tiger has her sunglasses?

Anyone got a video of Baddeley's shot?

What I think about some of the other players:

Watson was playing very well, Mickelson did well too. The Mahan/Toms pairing was stronger than I would have thought.

Tiger was mediocre, Stricker was very rusty. Scott/Choi played well.

This is all I could find. This clip really does a good job in disproving the phrase "better than nothing."

Your clip is too short.

They didn't capture the first part - where spectators are milling about in his line of sight and he backs away. Then he seems to debate backing away again, then shrugs it off, and does an abbreviated (i.e. rushed) routine before his mad / angry lash at the ball. He should have backed away the second time and gone only when ready. It doesn't matter which swing method he uses or used, his head wasn't in the right place and anyone watching could probably tell a good result was not likely.

Yea, it's a horrendous clip of what happened.

He really did rush his routine there after backing away, and looked totally uncomfortable.

This course is brutal, these greens are crazy.

Lots of good play today. Tiger more than solid, Furyk/Phil are a great team today.

And Bill Haas with an unbelievable shot at the driveable par 4

Anybody else hear a beeping on the President's Cup Broadcast?

Yes, I hear the background beep... almost like a heart monitor in a hospital.  Weird and bothersome.

Don't see why Couples is leaving some of the really bad pairings together like Woods/DJ and Mahan/Toms got routed. Why not switch a couple things up? With Tiger stealing DJ's caddie and both of them playing pretty poor, it just doesn't look comfortable out there. Not like Mickelson/Furyk who look like they are actually having a great time (ofcourse winning will do that). Tonights action should be fun!

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated

His decisions seem to have his team out in front, and maybe other players really don't care to play with the 4 aforementioned players. You have two people rumoured to be less than friendly and two known to have all the talent in the world except they both carry the choker gene.

My predictions for saturday's foursomes: Watson/Simpson lose, Haas/Kuchar win, Mahan/Toms halve, Woods/Johnson lose, Mickelson/Furyk win.

DJ  and TW again... If Johnson is playing as bad as yesterday, not even Tiger with his A+ game can win this match. Yesterday, Tiger could have played alone and the score would have been about the same.

This course is brutal!  Fun to watch but very few birdies, course just won't allow it.  I think it's going to come down to the wire on the singles matches, pars are huge

I don't know if anyone else saw it, towards the end of the matches Tiger and Phil were sitting together and chatting.  Just an interesting pic, those guys have a lot of history between them, been on a lot of teams together.

The course is crazy hard and fast....and that's great because the fairways are relatively wide and it's pretty short.  The greens were reported at 14, but Feherty said last night he thought they were about 18 and the fastest he's ever seen.  That's saying something.  His tweet was funny.

'"This course is so hard I think they've been watering it with Cialis. And I just saw Webb Simpson and Billy Haas in separate bathtubs."

I did see Tiger and Phil together sitting by the green.  I really wonder after it all came apart for Tiger if he had regrets about how his relationships with other players have been.

I wonder if Couples is looking for some caddie action out there. First day Tiger plays against Scott and his former caddie, second day he plays with the guy he "stole" his current caddie from. I like early tee times, means I can watch it live.
I did see Tiger and Phil together sitting by the green.  I really wonder after it all came apart for Tiger if he had regrets about how his relationships with other players have been.
I'm sure Tiger is a bit more reflected man today than he was a couple of years ago. I can't know this of course, but such an experience would have been very humbling to me at least. His world really came crashing down hard in a very short period of time. Relationships, family, career, golf swing, it all fell apart just like that. Not all of it related of course, but coincidence happened to arrange it all at once.

    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
