Mostly asking with a golf theme in mind.  What perfect golf gift would you want this year?  A new driver, golf lessons, golf trip?

Or is there a golf gift you plan on giving someone else, your wife, Dad, kids?

My son asked me for a camera today, so I'm going to do some research.  Not a Casio , just keep it simple so he can film a few swings when he's practicing.  And cheap enough if he drops it it's not a big deal.  He's good for equipment, just got him a 7-wood for his birthday, which he loves.

Combining birthday and christmas present to get a driver fitting, and new driver. We are agreed that what ever the fitting process tells me, I can purchase. Thank you wife.

Now to find a fitter. Golf Galaxy may be my only choice. Not sure if that is a good thing or not....

Im giving some thought to getting my son his first set of clubs for christmas.   He loves to get mine out in the backyard and I think next summer he may be ready to get out to the course a couple times.

As for me, Ive only asked for gift cards from TGW.  Im hoping to build a better swing over the next 6 months before getting fitted for something new.

A set of Mizuno MP-69s, a Mizuno MP-650 driver, a Mizuno MP Craft putter or a pair of Footjoy FJ Street shoes.

Jamo,

What has been keeping you off the course.  Hope it's not a health issue.

No spring flooding for 2012.  Backup is dozen Q Star golf balls.  Thinking conservatively since this season I purchased new Ping irons and also Garmin S1.  Love both.

Thanks for the concern, but I've just been really busy. ;-) I have been to the driving range, just not the course.

I've learned to be very careful when asking "Santa" for things.  If I asked for golfing stuff I would most likely end up with a $29.99 John Daly special driver.  I guess there aren't many golfing opportunities at the North Pole so Santa can't tell the difference between quality gear and junk.

I do think I might be getting some balls this year though.  When I bought my TM burner driver I mentioned that I should buy some burner balls to match it.  When I brought home some noodles I got on sale, the wife said, "I thought you wanted burners."  So I guess they do listen sometimes.  If I'd known she was gonna pay attention this time I would have asked for some Pentas or Pro V1X's.

General rule: NO GOLF STUFF unless it's something you buy for yourself and let your wife gift wrap.

Golf gifts are the worst. Almost as bad or at least as bad as fishing gifts.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
