My big oil grandma got a huge royalty check and told my wife to tell me to pick out whatever club I want.  I'm trying to get an Edel putter and drive up to take a tour of the shop 10 minutes north.  I'd like to talk with David Edel and do a little review for the site, so keep your fingers crossed.

Hoping Mrs. Santa will approve a joint trip to Vegas this winter for us to get some Mesquite desert golf in - will alleviate a mopey husband for 5 months of golfless winter...

I agree completely! Last year I got a box of Dunlop balls, a "practice putter" in which the shaft unscrews into 4 pieces to be pocket-sized, a golf moulded grip with laser pointer to practice indoor swings and some golf socks which were normal socks with pictures of golfers on them. lol

I'd love a Bushnell V2 for Christmas but I don't see that happening.

A repeatable swing, maybe new wedges, and I would love Paula Creamer to pop out of a box....think the wife goes for that one?

My darling wife must have been reading your mind because last night out of the blue she said why don't you buy that driver you want and I'll wrap it for Christmas - R11 here we come.

I get a golftrip to Scotland and England. We're going to play Carnoustie, Old Course, Royal Liverpool, Birkdale, Lytham & St. Annes and possibly the coolest of them all: Musselburgh ( http://mocgc.com/visitors/hickory-golf ) with Hickory Sets and gutty golf balls.

I'm pretty stoked

And I'm going to buy myself some new irons, I think the Nike VR Pro Combo

Pfffttt. Is that all? My kids get me a huge bag of tees and a couple of golf gloves. So you keep your Open Champoinship rotation and I will sit here hoping I get natural colored tees instead of white....

Thinking of getting myself the Opti-Shot and letting my wife wrap it. So I can work on the swing a little throughout the long....cold .....winter months.

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated

The same thing I have wanted for Xmas the last 15+ years..... nothing. If I want it I go out and buy it for myself (within reason).

Like some others, if I get anything golf related it'll be a dud, so I'll just look forward to all the other "gifts" Christmas season offers when you have a job, a nice family and are relatively healthy. My daughter is skating on her own now (mostly falling, but she'll get there) so weather permitting we'll be checking out the local outdoor rink (ODR) on Boxing Day (Dec 26). We went to the lighting of the Christmas tree party on Tuesday and that was nice (the city turns on the lights on all the decorated trees - and one particulary huge one - outside city hall) which kicks off the Festival of Trees this weekend (local custom - very Christmassy) Gonna see Santa somewhere (probably at the mall). The 2 month old will be terrified and screaming for the photo of course, but it's all part of the tradition.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
