Yeah obviously Beach is the kind of golfer that likes all the detail and I have fun geeking out but won't be seeing me post stuff like this when giving advice to most golfers...

I'm glad you said that, because I was thinking I would need to read a 400 page instruction manual before our lesson. :-)

LOL ... Yeah, when I first started reading swing threads and feeling like I was interested in instruction from Mike , Erik and the rest of the 5SK guys, I was getting a lot of information from this thread and from Jetfan's thread (which is similarly "geeky" - but much much worse ;)).

It's pretty intimidating with all of the language they are using if you don't understand it.  Then I got to the point where I realized it's not necessary to understand most of it, and Beach and Jetfan just like to get into the nuts and bolts a lot more than most.

These guys are really good at keeping it simple for most of us, but will go ahead and "geek out" when talking to Beach and Jetfan because they know words like "pronation," "supination," "accumulator," etc, etc, turn them on.

LOL ... I prefer my words in the one and two syllable range whenever possible. ;)

Mainly though, my opinion is that if simple will get the job done, then why get fancy?  Like saying "utilize" instead of "use."  "National Football League" instead of NFL.  "Golf shot" instead of "shot."

And although I, admittedly, may not understand the words fully, I think that they are just fancy ways of saying "bowed" and "cupped."

Turning signals instead of turn signals? Blinkers instead of directionals??

Actually, no.  I call 'em "that-a-way lights" now because that was one of the awesomest things ever!

But yes ... Marry instead of merry or Mary, soda instead of pop, sub instead of hero, you get the idea. ;)

Pipoe arrived earlier this week, and I'm back from vaca.  Hawaii was fun, but I'm glad I'm back to Socal.

Went to the range tonight for the first time since I returned, and experimented with the Pipoe... The results were pretty decent.  But it was definitely a challenge to actually hit balls without the Pipoe flying out from between my elbows at impact.  I'm going to try another session on Sunday, but this time 60% speed, and see if I can keep the Pipoe from flying out at impact when secured between the elbows.

I'll try and get some videos up on Sunday.  Cheers!

Looking forward to hereing your take on the Pipoe. I'm tempted to get one because I see how it can help work on my present issue AND I can see how it can help with my future issues. At the same time and can't get the little voice in my head to stop saying, "$30 plus shipping for a ball??"

For sure. I was in the same boat for a LONG time. And didn't think the Pipoe would be worth the money. But I was too lazy to go shopping for a nerf ball, or a small ball to do the same thing as the Pipoe. I finally pulled the trigger on the Pipoe after feeling like I had hit a wall, and gotten as far as I could on my own feels, and needed something like the Pipoe to give me a more extreme feel. When I secure the Pipoe properly between the elbows, it actually feels like I'm flexing my pecs to keep my right and left elbows close. Almost like flexing your chest when you do flys with dumb bells on a bench. The pec feel is definitely new for me, and I like that as when I do swing rehearsals in front of the mirror, with the Pipoe, my geo's look nearly perfect. That's a big confidence booster because I know I'm getting the proper position. Now I just need to do it hitting balls.

    • I've played the Tour in both white and yellow.  They play well and seem to hold up pretty good even when running into trees or cart paths.  Right now, I've been trying them against the Bridgestone Tour B RX ball and I really like both.  The Snell 3.0 looks to be a great update to the issues Snell was running into with the previous generation.

    • Not to take away from the OP's question but the Snell 3.0 is about all you could ask for in a ball. I'm not a paid spokesman and my opinion does not reflect on the owner of the site. Lexi Thompson could beat most people with a Top Flite, or a Nitro. Ben Griffin? He doesn't offer a lot of street cred so I'll pass. Now if Fat Perez or Heavy Ballesteros start using it then?????? 😀
    • Just read that Peter Oosterhuis passed away. He was the one and only celebrity I have asked for an autograph! In September 2007, I was in the Charlotte Airport awaiting a flight reading my October 2007 Golf Magazine. It was during the FedEx playoffs and Tiger had just won the previous tournament with the Tour Championship the next event. I watched the event listening to the dulcet tones of Peter Oosterhuis, among others. I opened the magazine, and started reading an article about Oosterhuis and the opening picture had him posing as James Bond in a movie’s opening sequence. I looked up from the article and he was sitting directly across from me!    I approached and showed him the article and asked if he would sign the photo. Mr. Oosterhuis asked “Are you keen on golf?” When I responded positively, we spoke for about 10 minutes discussing the fact that both Phil and Tiger had won FedEx events prior to the Tour Championship. He was very gracious and a wonderful storyteller. I was saddened by his battles with dementia and missed him on CBS’s telecasts.
