According to Jason Sobel , Tiger Woods has committed to the Honda Classic.

Good. Playing more is a good thing, I say.

The more the merrier for Tiger. WGC Accenture, then Honda Classic. Perhaps WGC at TPC, Bay Hill and then Augusta.

It is confirmed. I was at the press conference today when it was announced. Also announced are plans to make the Bear Trap more Phoenix Open-ish with more concessions around the 17th hole. I will report more when I am able. Here are some pics. Tiger.JPG Bear Trap.JPG

Wow. Tiger's never played the Honda. My Palm Beach Gardens buds are going apebleep on Facebook over this.

Now, in the past he's played Doral & Bay Hill...sounds like he'll miss one of those, otherwise that's 3 in a row (or 3 out of 4 - no Tampa).

I can't imagine he'll voluntarily skip Doral or Bay Hill. I think this means we get a lot more Tiger! Also, his goal in playing the Honda is clear: he wants to win every PGA Tour event that Y.E. Yang has won.

Yeah that;s what I mean - Honda just never fit his schedule with his traditional Doral & Bay Hill commitment. Maybe he'll skip Orlando this year - too many bad memories?

Hopefully not. We still consider him a resident.

At any rate, it's good to see he's adding events. If he it truly serious about getting back to the top, he can't be as selective as he used to be - log those rounds, play those tournaments.

Completely agree. By all accounts, he looks great on the range, but he's not performing well under tournament pressure, so that's what he needs to practice. I'm guessing that after Sunday's debacle, he finally came to the same conclusion.

Yeah I haven't seen him since the Presidents Cup.  Thanks for the confirmation...

I'm surprised more courses haven't followed suit tbh.  I don't necessarily agree that a golf tournament needs to be rowdy and crazy... But if you have ever attended the Waste Management in Phoenix... You'll quickly realize that it reaches out to folks far outside the standard golf community.  I guess that can't hurt as it should make the sport more popular?

Although I say that with a little regret... On Sunday afternoon it was like every junior golfer and their swing coach was playing... Like they were going to be the next Tiger Woods.  Result was a 4hr front 9!!  Unbelievable...

Well politically it's a must play in his backyard because to not play would be putting him into a real Bear Trap.  He is in Jack's backyard, on his course, with a tournament that support's his charity. Tiger's presence increases the gate by 30% according to the Honda which will give the charity a banner year. That along with all of the other Jack connections with Tiger and his family's move, it's the least he could do.

Well, I see this as a very tame version with a little more ettiquette. You make a good point about the outreach as this is being marketed to folks outside of the standard golf community.

Good point. Tiger lives there now.

The press conference at The Honda started with Rory Sabatini being interviewed by phone. He was very gracious and talked about how the course plays as tough as any they see all year especially when the wind kicks up. He talked about his bout with skin cancer, traveling with his family, and how he does not change equipment for different courses. The tournament folks announced that the par 5 18th hole will be playing up on some days making it more of a risk/reward hole to finish on. The field was announced which features a strong international influence with Lee, Rory, and finally Tiger in the field.  The plans for increased hospitality around the 17th hole were discussed along with that being designated as the military hole with a service man or woman attending to the flag which will be an American Flag. It was a cool event to be part of and the last thing was the Tiger announcement which drew some applause from the press and attendees.

I think Tiger is going to go Accenture-Honda-Doral-Bay HIll and then Masters....and I think his intention (although the chances are as remote as hell) is if we wins each of those tournaments, he will go to No. 2 after the Masters...assuming the Top 3 right now don't make much of a move, which again in highly unlikely....

Tiger needs to win 6 high profile tournaments in the next 10 he's playing to get back to No. 1....
