In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

My prayers are definitely out to Jarrod and his family. He's gonna be a new dad tomorrow I believe so that will give him an extra boost to fight it. He beat it once and I really hope he can pull through again. This story really hits close to home for a number of reasons. First, my wife's best friend just found out this morning that her 2 year old daughter was diagnosed with Leukaemia and will start treatment tomorrow. Obviously a very sad situation! This also hits home because my wife is pregnant with our first child...I acutually find out tomorrow if I am having a boy a girl. I also found out my grandfather was diagnosed with bladder cancer two weeks ago. All of this makes me really think about my health and doing things I need to do to stay healthy and be there for my family ...not that Jarrod or this little girl could have done anything to prevent this disease. But just the thought of this happening to me, my wife or my future son or daughter makes my heart hurt. I can't even sleep because I am so excited but nervous about tomorrow...just trying to keep my mind off of it all. I really feel things will be okay, but with the story of Jarrod, my grandfather, and our friends Daughter really makes my mind spin. God bless people like Arnold Palmer for raising so much money for kids in these situations! Great post, Shorty! Good vibes can only help!! :-)

ugh...that sucks so bad.  i am a survivor of lymphoma, i cannot imagine getting it again.

this might mean a stem cell transplant for Lyle, this being the second time around.

My son had Lymphoma @ 10 years ago and I'm thankful that he's doing well.  My heart and prayers go out all those affected by this disease.

Definitely sad news, I can't imagine anything more life shattering than such a serious illness. I hope that the only news after this is good news.

Not to take anything away from the original topic, but I used to race motocross and still frequent the big motocross forum like TST, www.vitalmx.com. Over there they have threads like this, but it's always about a rider dying or breaking their necks while riding, usually very young. I can think of three professionals who have lost their lives within the past year or so. Makes me glad I switched to the sport of golf, but also just goes to show how you can never really get away from bad stuff. .

When I hear Jarrod Lyle, this is what I think of.

Best of luck to Jarrod and his family.

Horrible news. He has fought hard. Life seems like it should be more fair. Prayers for him to have a peaceful, pain free end of life, and prayers for his family.

This young man literally looked death in the face, and stared it down 2 times.  As a cancer survivor, I can tell you the 3 most devastating words in the English language are when your doctor tells you "You've got cancer.". My thoughts are with his family, and hopefully, they will be alright.

A very sad moment. Hats of to this courageous young man who through sheer strength of character saw himself through almost twenty years of living with this demon and yet accomplish what few us can even think of. Seems like he also had a great support system including his wife and daughters.

RIP.
