Whats with all the pot bunkers.     I played Royal Links once with bonafied euro style pot bunkers - I'd love to see ANYBODY effectively hit the ball out of one ... it's so different than the bunkers we play here in the states.      I don't think I could get out with a 64 degree wedge ... don't care to EVER play a course with pot bunkers again ...

That looks awesome. Of course, the reviews will probably be less favorable than they should be simply because so many people hate Donald Trump so much.

Beautiful and terrifying; with all that wind, uneven lies, deep bunkers, and four foot rough hope the greens are easy to read. I pray there aren't plans for Mcmansion home sites or modern hotels anywhere near that stretch of land.

Yes he is planning on a luxury hotel and villa complex (of course!). With St. Andrews and Carnoustie relatively close by it could be an excellent golfing destination.

The course looks fantastic and is certainly a contender for the Scottish Open slot which is played the week before the British Open. A tough links course test the week before the major should prove popular amongt the pros.

Maybe he's one of the locals whose rights were trampled on in the process of building it:

"After the Scottish Government overturns its own environmental laws to give Trump the green light... water and power is cut off, land disputes erupt, and some residents have thousands of tonnes of earth piled up next to their homes.  Complaints go ignored by the police, who instead arrest the film's director..."

Two sides to every story though, right?

How would any of that make the course itself an abomination? Oh well, it takes all kinds.

Trump knows how to get his way and isn't above bully tactics to make sure it's done to his satisfaction.  Obviously he had the local government backing him up or he'd have been impeded (like he was at Jones beach).

The course looks amazing but he recognizes that his methods will likely prevent any of his courses from being selected by the PGA Tour.  He does hold out hope that the LPGA will host a tournament there or at another of his courses one day.

if i may retort, all you did was define what abomination means.   you still need to link it to this beautiful, awesome course trump built.  something other than a few drunken, butt-hurt scots, who have a case of the 'NIMBY's.

In my Grom Stand bag:

Driver: Ping G20, 8.5 Tour Stiff
Wood/Hybrid: G20 3W, Raylor 19*, 22*
Irons: R9 5I - SW, TM CGB LW

Putter: Scotty Cameron Kombi-Mid

Favorites: Old Ranch (Seal Beach), Ike/Babe (Industry Hills), Skylinks (Long Beach), Desert Willow (Palm Desert)

Let me try to explain in a way even a drunken Scot would understand: Clewbay2 greatly dislikes/abhors the course. He has an intense aversion or loathing of it. A detestation . The existence of the course, based on the manner in which Trump apparently bribed officials and sidestepped laws to get it built, represents a vile, shameful, or detestable action .  So, the object of clewbay2's dislike/abhorrence/aversion/loathing is the golf course - therefore, by definition of the word, in clewbay2's opinion the golf course is an abomination.

I feel the same way.

And btw, while I'm sure you're quite refined and sophisticated in real life, your comments about the local Scots don't paint a flattering picture.  It's also beside the point - regardless of how drunken they are, it doesn't make it ok if local officials were bribed and coerced by the Trump machine, if environmental and property laws were broken, and if locals suffered as a result.

You were kind enough to explain why you feel the course is an abomination. It's a shame Clewbay2 who now looks like a troll for not coming back didn't do the same. Then again why blame only Trump when the local politicians seemed to have sold their souls for the tourist revenue.

    • He’s also the best anchoring putter there is!😏
    • And  he  has had alot  of  health issues as you expect  from someone still playing at  67
    • Good read (pun intended) as I have been using my feet more to feel the break and trusting these 65yr eyes less.  The only caveat to my case is that most rounds I wear a carbon graphite brace that runs the length of my left foot (replicates the toe "lift" sensation while walking by putting pressure on the rear of the left calf muscle and makes a great conversation piece to the guys I play with), and I tend to find the weight sensation somewhat muted on that foot when I wear it.  I do occasionally play without it and the left foot read gives a better transmission of info.  However not matter which way I'm playing that day (brace/no brace), pacing off the distance and coming back about 1/2 way and getting a foot read has really helped me determine the break, the startline and oveall pace.  Using my feet has definitely improved my confidence in terms of putting.
    • To still be winning tournaments at 67 is quite incredible. He must also be the youngest person to have shot his age or better by however many times he's done it. Amazing.
