Except for the steepness of that shaft angle, I really like the way this A5 looks.

In addition to trying to bow that left wrist at the top, today (no video - this photo is from Sunday) I tried to visualize pointing the butt of the club at the ball on the way down.  Because I didn't get any video, I don't know how successful that feeling was, but it felt pretty effortless to get the clubhead on the ball (like I wasn't needing to manipulate anything) and I was hitting it quite well.

I'll try this feel again next time out and get some video as well to see how it looks. :)

That's a nice sunset but you can go straight to hell with those shorts and that green carpet that's covering the ground. Seriously, what is that stuff?

I'm gonna be honest with you Drew. When I first saw these pictures, I was tempted to move them to the Winter Depression thread. :-p

So I got a chance to play yesterday - don't worry @billchao , I will keep the pictures to myself ;) - and all in all, it wasn't bad.  I'm hitting better shots, hitting more draws, getting better and better every time out, it seems, with my pitching, but my driver is still holding me back.

I shot an 81 yesterday (6600, par 70, 72.5, 134) and I can attribute 7 dropped shots to yipped drivers.  And by that, I mean, drives that were wildly off line.  Here's a list:

#1: A 30 yard pull-draw in the weeds that led to a bogey.

#2: A 30 yard straight-slice (made worse by a head wind) into the drink, led to a double.

#7: A 40-50 nasty pull hook into hazard, led to bogey.

#10: Popped up push OB, double bogey after parring with second ball.

#11: Same as #7, got a lucky kickback into the rough, managed bogey from there.

#18: Big push slice led to nasty lie above bunker and a bogey.

That's 7 or 8 (#2 is a tough second shot even if I'm in the fairway so a par isn't a guarantee) shots right there.  Be able to keep the driver in play and all of a sudden that 81 could be a 73 or 74.

And I had two others nearly as bad, but that I was able to recover from and par.

I'm still working on getting the shaft pointing down at the ball at A5 and working on a straighter right leg around impact.  I think the straighter right leg might be the key to eliminating the snap hooks.  Maybe just keep at that, and work in some more "toes-up" drills as well.

OK, sorry Bill, I have to share:

Whatever dude, I saw those pictures yesterday :-P I was wondering what was up with your round, though. You better watch you don't start driving the ball like me :-D

    • If I was going to try to help someone fix a low snap hook without actually seeing their swing I would have to tell them to break down the problem into pieces. See if you can fix the "low" part of the problem first. A low ball flight tells me you are probably swinging level or hitting down on the ball instead of hitting up on it. Try teeing the ball higher than you are comfortable and put the ball up in your stance a little further up than comfortable...try putting it off your left heal or even the left toe. Try to feel like your club head is swinging up through impact. Try that first and see if it gets you to a high snap hook or a high pull hook.    If you want to address the hook part of the swing you are going to have to look at two areas of the swing as well as your concept of what the arms and hands do through impact. I love talking through this stuff with people but I'll only go into it further if you really want to go down that rabbit hole...you would have to say so. Swing well my friend!
    • Hello everyone! I haven't been on a golf forum in many years...since the old 4gea days if I remember right. Love to talk swing mechanics and hope to meet up for some range time and golf with others if possible. Been in Houston for a year now but haven't managed my way out on the course anywhere. I hope to change that in 2025. Hit 'em hard everybody!
    • Day 6: Worked with 6-iron, same stuff; neutral grip, centered turn. Feeling a bit lost right now, but have a lesson booked in about 10 days.
