LOL.  If you've watched the tour pros on the range ever, you know that they all have the same routine with the driver.  Hit the ball, turn around and have your caddy toss you the next one, then bend over grab the tee, tee it up, and hit the next one.

Just watched Fred Couples ... Mr. back problems ... with a new, even better routine.  Hit the ball, then turn around and chat with a buddy while your caddy tees up 3 more balls in a line so you don't have to bend over at all.  I have back issues as well, so color me jealous!  :)

Freddie went to the same blood-spinning doctor in Germany that Kobe Bryant went to and says it really helped his back. I think he goes a couple of times a year now.

Thanks for all of the photos - you really covered the course!

I was struck by how "normal" the course looks in your pictures compared to its appearance on tv.

What kind of camera/lens were you using?

Mostly Cannon Powershot G10 for the pics and a Casio EX-FH 25 for all the video.

Great leader board after the first round. As much as I like the watching the young guys play...I hope Freddie shoots a little 65 today. I wish Tiger was playing. I would love to see him and Freddie in the final group on Sunday. I think that would be the one time that fans would root more for the guy that Tiger was playing (maybe Phil).

My bag:

Taylor Made R7 (x-stiff).
Taylor Made Burner 2 irons (stiff)

Lefty nearly double eagles his first hole today - should be an interesting round of golf on the tube today.

Speaking of which, anyone else already tired of Keegan's bad habits idiosyncrasies? Worse now than Furyk has ever been.

He doesn't bother me at all.  All I see now is that he is a little jittery and fidgety during his preshot routine.  (Seems appropriate enough seeing as he's a Boston guy, right?  It's very Garciaparra-ish of him :))  And, of course, the glare on the green you posted in your picture.  But, to me, that's nothing.  The only thing that might be slightly annoying about that is the networks' choice to show it every time and comment on it.  But that's not his fault.

Ironically, though, I believe it was after this tournament last year where the media fried him for all of his spitting.  He cleaned that up right away though.

EDIT:  I'm checking out this cool feature on pgatour.com called "interactive course map" that is basically a google map of the course with little icons showing who's where on the course.  I notice something I consider to be kind of unusual ...

Between the 1st and 2nd holes there appears to be about 75% of another hole.  It could certainly just be a practice chipping and pitching green, but it seems to also have a couple of hundred yards worth of fairway.  Maybe that's all it is and these are the kind of amenities I'm missing out on by not belonging to a prestigious club like this.

From all the photos posted on this thread, it doesn't seem like such an aesthetically pleasing course.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
