My Swing (cipher)

Thanks for sharing this.  I appreciate it.  Yeah the "out" feeling feels really weird right now.  I was not sure if I should be feeling that, so I am glad you mentioned it.  Past A3 I think I will still fight a tendency to get too deep with the hands/club, but hopefully all this will help make it less severe.  I have noticed as well that I can go out and up but still lay the club down too flat, so I have to keep an eye on that.  I will be working on it a lot into A2 and A3 to really work in the feel for this.  Thanks!

Yea, I know that problem

For me it was just pounding those drills till the move didn't feel HORRIBLE!!! Good Luck!!!

About as close as I have come to an eagle on a par 4 this morning. Even a blind acorn finds a squirrel once in a while.

Oh yeah!  I wanted to try and exaggerate it as much as I could at first to really feel the difference.  It probably did not help that I was making the downswings with the basket there.  Now hopefully I can reign it in a bit and find the middle ground with better turning rates going back as it becomes more comfortable.

Yeah I don't think I have checked into "Hotel California" anyway. ;-)

P.S. Not sure what happend to my post above.  Here is the video again even though EJ quoted it.

Yeah. @cipher better bring donuts to the team meetings this season.  Lotta vets on the club.

Ha.  That's what you think.  You can check out any time you like, but you can't never leave.

I'd wager that you're not quite doing what @cbrian is looking for here. I did hear him say "make it goofy" so maybe he's looking for it to be overdone as a quick example, but, in the end… I don't think he wants your hands actually going "up" that way, that's "out" away from you.

More green arrow, to correct the red arrow. Not the black arrow.

Ha.  Looked overdone to me too but I was assuming that he was doing it that way on purpose to make green arrow feel comfortable more quickly, cause at least it's not black arrow?

However, I did think I was supposed to feel some out...I will work on just the "UP".  That makes it way easier. :-D Thanks for the visual @iacas .

Red was my approximation of what you're doing now. Too much in, not enoug

He might have, but you probably overdid it. Your hands shouldn't actually ever really go OUT there.

Okay perfect. I might even need to feel "slight" out just to get the hands moving on the green line instead of the red. I will keep at it though and see what it feels like. My guess is it just feels back and up when I do it correctly.

Sorry if my bringing up the out contributed to this at all.  I mentioned it just because when I started making this shift even swings where my hands were right on the green line it felt like I was doing what you were actually doing in the last video.  But then I was sucking my hands back much worse than you to start...

    • I wear minimalist zero drop shoes daily. Really helped my ankle strength and balance. I hardly ever sprain my ankles anymore (been years). Truelinks are my go to golf shoe. I like their Knits as a daily shoe.
    • Yea I’m the same way. All their shoes are pretty good but I just like the OG and their derivatives so much more. I’m probably just going to stick with them from now on.
    • Day 2 - 2024-10-02 Chipped and pitched around every green on the front nine at WW with @DrizZzY playing. Hit between 6 to 24 shots around every green.
    • Washing my hands in a sink that was a little bit too low for me and my back seized up. Weeks of PT and muscle relaxers later I could get out of bed in less than 10 minutes again.
    • This is what I thought.  This came off as someone making up phrases or words to sound impressive than actually speaking correctly about how the body works. Any search for Spiral Lines just seems to come from alternative medicine and not actual good science websites. Like, if I search spiral lines at Cleveland clinic, I get stuff about bone fractures.  When he started going on spiral lines, I was checking out of the video.  I do not think any sort of motion can 100% get rid of the chance of back injury. We are bending over slightly and torquing the body at a high rate of speed. Over and over again. It is common for golfers to have degenerative discs. Then you are just asking for the moment where a nerve to get pinched and there goes the back. I take it as an acceptable risk to play this sport. This past year has been the best year in terms of back issues for me (zero). I attribute a lot of that with doing more with my arms (shallowing), than using my body.  Opening the lower freezer door of my fridge. Leaning over to tie a show. Sneezing. And a few other ways.  God getting old sucks 😛
