What about rule 6-7. (2 stroke penalty for slow play. No mention of just one stroke) Also. Perhaps fault lies with all the other officials who don't enforce the rules. Perhaps euros actually care about slow play. Prediction. A slew of penalties in next month or two.

I don't think so . .this article just posted:

http://www.cbssports.com/golf/blog/eye-on-golf/22058460/tianlang-guan-handed-one-stroke-penalty-for-slow-play

"Per the PGA Tour, it's the first slow-play penalty assessed since Glen Day was hit in 1995 ... three years before Guan was even born."

With all the slow-pokes on tour week in and week out - how on Earth can they justify dusting off the one stroke penalty in this situation?

I am not against the one stroke penalty at all . .in fact, I think they should use it every week .. but this doesn't seem fair.

Furyk deserves one every week.

Worse thing it did nothing to speed him up because for the most part he was done. Just seems like an attack on an easy target.

I think that the rules official wanted to set an example, so he picked on the 8th grader....I'm sure that all the pros will now pick up the pace (sarcasm!)

Players play, tough players win!

these players move like molasses - just watched Piercy spend about 5 mins eying a putt on 13 that he missed anyway.

edit: guess they make up for it with 300-yd drives down the middle.

Here it is 6:10 fri evening and what a leader board !!! Hard to tell who will try to separate themselves from the field! Probably will come down to the back 9 on Sunday ! That is just one of the great things about the Masters! I think minus eleven will win it!

bad luck for Tiger........hits the flag on 15, 3rd shot and it ricochets  into the drink.......then follows it up w/ a tight shot,  2-3 footer......awesome.

OMG What a bad break for tiger on an absolutely beautiful shot!

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Seemore Si-4 Black Nickel Putter

and what a beautiful replayed shot to show composure in the face of bad breaks. To get bogey after a break like that is awesome.

That happened a couple months ago to somebody else in another tournament (for the 2nd time to that particular guy, apparently), and I thought it was the worst golfing break I'd ever seen.  But imagine having it happen in a major?!?

Smh, that actually pissed me off.  But he made a good bogey.  That guy has some focus.

Graham DeLaet at Arnie's tournament...Chad Campbell holed his shot for an eagle, then DeLaet makes his birdie

The penalty on Guan was ridiculous.  It isn't consistent with what they have done for other players.  If he was on the 6th hole MAYBE...but on the 17th?  Makes no sense based on what they have done in the past.

Not consistent, yes, but still deserved. I'm still sick about Tigers bad break.

They need to ban that 15th flagstick from Augusta National.  And they better get it off the premises before Colin can get to it.

I swear if that was me, I would have dropped so many f-bombs and other foul language that Rick Martin would have passed out.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
