Are you going to any PGA Tour tournaments this year? State the name(s) of the tournament(s) and what day(s) you are attending. I am going to the PGA Championship at Oak Hill on the Thursday. This will be my first major I have attended, so I'm definitely looking forward to it. How about you?

I went to the Sunday round of the Players and witnessed the meltdown and Tigers surge. I will be attending the weekend at the Tour Championship. I havent been in a few years so it should be a good time.

I will be at The Memorial in Dublin, Ohio for the final round Sunday.  I was there Sunday last year and saw Tigers amazing chip on 17.  Hope there is more fireworks this year.

I spent a day at Bayhill this year, but that's it. Honestly, I'd rather play golf in the morning and then watch it on tv afterwards, than attend a live tournament.

Not a Tour event, but I am planning on attending the Southern California sectional US Open qualifying.  As a spectator, of course.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I went to the US Open local qualifying a couple of weeks ago and will go watch the sectionals this Monday. If you have a flexible schedule, try to go. Free, no crowds, watch from any angle the course allows, parking is easy, BYO food/drink, you see so many shots, you can go up and see the divot made after a shot. I wish I could watch a major this way. Last year I saw Luke List. Man that guy hits the ball a country mile.

Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone in Akron, OH. Course is probably 20 minutes from me and I am allowed to pre-game since I'll have a ride there and back! Hopefully I don't have a few too many and become the " Mashed Potato!" guy... I'll have to kick my own ass then like Jim Carrey in Me, Myself and Irene.

Haven't been to a PGA event yet. Considering going to the WGC at Firestone, the Greenbrier Classic, or the Congressional. Have always wanted to see these guys operate in person.

I am attending this weekend's European Tour BMW PGA at Wentworth Golf Club. Should be fun. Also got a Corporate entry so that I could attend autograph signing sessions. I also wanted to check out what are the new clubs in the bag of McIIroy's.

Apparently Sergio was getting quite a good reception yesterday.

I'm hitting up the PGA at Oak Hill on Thursday.  That's where I saw my first tournament, the last time they played the PGA there.  I've been to the Masters 4 times for the week and Firestone.  I'm excited to check out Oak Hill again, and this time, I'm bringing my 7 year old son. Should be fun.

Going to the US Open at Merion.  Practice round on Tuesday, going alone, to really walk the course and hopefully not deal with the crowds.  Then, I'm going again on Sunday with 3 friends, but I suspect I'll regret not being able to see very much.  I did a little "recon" mission today, to just drive around the public access roads near the course.  It's pretty cool, watching the regular members hack it up like the rest of us, but with giant TV stand scaffolding all over the place...

I'll be in Memphis Sunday at the FedEx St Jude.  This is my first time going to one and looking forward to it.  Wish there were a few more big names, but at least hoping to get to see Phil make it to Sunday.

    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
    • I like to look at the positives.  Overall you are fairly consistent down the center with most shots 20 yards or less off center.  On most fairways that should be in play.  Sure, you had some very short duds, but also if you look there is a good cluster in the 110-125 yard range.  Sure, we would all like to be longer, but knowing your typical shot is more important than trying to hit the 7-Iron 175 Yards.  Just take more club for longer shots and do not worry about it.  Your distances may increase as you improve over time so do not get caught up on that now.
