I prefer a mild Texas winter.  Get to dress like a tour pro and the winter down here doesn't do too much damage to the courses.  Also seem to have more stamina in the winter time rather than 100+F* summer days (go figure).

South Florida in the winter. Spring and fall in the NE, the mornings are nippy and spring can be rainy and fall can be over quickly.

I haven't played that much in Southern CA, but I am betting that is idea.

I live in the southeast. I like the fall right up until frost which can be early but usually late October. Mornings might be high 40's but quickly warming up to 75 or so, grass still green and hardwood foilage.

I wish we had multiple seasons to choose from.  If the course is dumb enough to open I'm stupid enough to play!  Can't be too picky up here!

I'd have to say I prefer mid to late April (opening time) and early Oct for playing though.  It's way too humid in the summer for my liking.  Not that that stops me from playing 3-4 rounds per week!

I've only lived in CO so my experience is limited but here it's late Sep through early Dec. Weather is mild and the crowds have thinned but the courses are still in good shape. I'm good in the brutal heat of mid summer too, again less crowded.

Definitely fall provided the fairways are reasonably cleared of leaves. No bugs is a pretty big selling point.

Second choice would be dead of winter, 'cuz if I'm golfing in the winter it means I've gone somewhere else!

I would rather play below zero than above 90, but fall in the midwest or winter in AZ.

Three-way tie between spring, summer, and fall. No thanks in the winter, unless I'm somewhere warm. I don't care to play in weather below about 45.

That weather is reserved for duck hunting.

That would be winter and spring for me.  Summer and the beginning of fall are usually in the high 90's and 100's.  Yesterday it was about 101 and was muggy and just felt disgusting. I walked off the course after the 11th hole because it was just too much to walk.  I do not mind cold, rain, fog, wind, anything but the temp in the 100's.

I love winter in OK.  If it's around 40F and slight wind, I'll have the course to myself.  I may stop playing when both the temps and the wind are in the 30s though...

What? Give me 90+ F over -1 F any day.

In order, my 3 favorites are Fall, Fall and Fall.

Summer means blistering temps with oppressive humidity.  There is almost no way to keep sweat out of my eyes and everything is just sticky. Also:

Mosquitoes

Other flies / bugs

Poison Ivy

Overgrown waste areas that are actually sorta playable in the winter

Sunburns / skin cancer risk

Probably some things I'm not thinking of right now

The Spring is kinda hot - but the pollen in this area can coat the whole city in a green powder.  It is OK though.

Winter is actually OK too.  Course is totally brown and the ground can be frost making it difficult to play early.

The only real drawback to fall is that the leaves can cause to you lose a ball in the fairway at times.  And the greens can get pretty covered up. As soon as you clean a path from the ball to the hole, the wind blows - Ha!  But the Fall is by a long, long shot my favorite time.  Cooler temps, nice breeze, less humidity.  I could play all day.

Having said that, I appreciate living in a place I can play year round.  Even though it is hot and sticky - I still play in the dead of summer.

Like OP, I live in Texas and for the most part we can play year round.  I really like Fall golf because of the milder temperatures and generally it is not as windy as Spring.  Spring has nice weather but the wind can be brutal.  I would rather play in 100* temps with no wind than to play in 75* with a 25mph gusting wind.  All that said, I will play every chance.  I can play in the rain, I can play in the cold.  I pretty much refuse to play when it is both rainy and cold (45* or less).

I am from MN, so I'm gonna go with Fall. That means comfortable temps and beautiful scenery. Spring is close, but it is often so damn rainy all the time. Summer is just HOT.. plain and simple. Of course I play as much as I can through all three seasons. Unfortunately, winter doesn't even come into play for us northerners.

First off, it doesnt get hot, its Minnesota.  Beyond that, I agree with you 100%.  I was born and raised in Wisconsin and lived there for almost 32 years.  Theres nothing like fall in the upper midwest.

Spring-Summer-Fall. I prefer summer even though it's hot and humid...mostly because the courses are drier and more pleasant to play.

Winter is snowboard season.

    • For someone with a very consistent swing speed and ball strike, upgrades may improve performance. For everyday golfers, probably not. I'm a rather odd player. I usually get best performance from basic pro or tour heads, but with lighter stock shaft from the model's standard driver set up. (Yes, current EXS is an exception.) When I get a full driver fitting, I usually try a couple of modest upgrade  (not super magic) shafts. Most of the time upgrade gives a couple of extra yards, or 10 yards less. Remember this about stock shafts: They are matched to a particular driver model to fit the type of player likely to adopt that model. Also, most OEMs offer a variety of stock shafts in their drivers. Test for which one works best. And, the final decider...
    • Uh, seeing you're having trouble with hit-and-miss performance from inherited clubs... Get Fitted! IF the 910H pair don't work, swap them out. Also, only two degrees separation in loft is not much. You might consider a 4W (much more reliable than a 3W) plus hybrid. This would give more distance separation than two Hs. For hybrid, get one you can hit... Maybe a more benevolent 4H. Quite often I try to brand match my bridge clubs (FWs and Hs), and my irons and wedges... but not always. Whatever works!
    • Like others have said, get fitted. Since 2011, I have played some combination of 4W + 7W. I had a Cobra 3H and 4H a couple of years back, and would swap out the 7W for a 3H in cold months (keep out of cold wind, and rough thinner for wayward drives.) The 7W matched up with yardage often with 3H; the current 4H goes almost as long as 7W, but has a lower trajectory. 4H also bumped out 4i in last bag redo; I learned to hit stinger with 4H so that's my driving iron on tight holes with shallow landing area. Again, a side-by-side test will tell you which way to go. If 5W or 3H is meh, keep the 7W. Also, are you looking to replace the 7W with a 5W or 3H, or add a second bridge club (5W or 3H) to your bag?
    • Makes sense and aligns with other literature. Static stretching, especially for longer durations, can impede performance in strength and power activities. I would not want to do like hamstring, quad, and calf stretches then go immediately sprint. To me that sounds like a terrible Idea. I would rather start off walking, then jogging, then running, then ramp up to sprinting.  To me, static stretching isn't even a warmup activity. I like the term warmup; you want to get some exertion going before the activity.      a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; }
    • Going to Florida for the usual February golf trip, and with our current weather, that date won't get here soon enough. Heading to Augusta GA for the Tuesday Master's practice round, will definitely get some golf in while I'm in the area for a few days. Hope to be able to catch up with @coachjimsc if he's around. Then it's back to Scotland first of July.  Playing 7 new courses, can't wait for that.  Then somewhere after that is the Rhode Island CC Member-Guest and then my normal October golf trip to Myrtle Beach.
