I think you might be mistaken how slope rating works.  The lowest value is 55, the highest is 155.  113 is an average difficulty course.  I don't know if I would call half a dozen points off average difficulty "very easy".

Most of us would consider anything under 113 easy. I personally have only played one course with anything under 120.

Alhambra golf course in CA. "Almansor" is rated 107 from blues.par 71. I'm usually -10 off my normal score.

"easy" is a relative term.  I have never played a course under 119. Over 120 is noticeably more difficult for me, however, depending on the course design, sometimes I tend to score better on the higher slopes.  I played today at MCAS Miramar slope 127/70.2 and scored a 94. Using my best three differentials, nothing has changed and I am still at 21.0 which represents 96% of the average of the lowest three. If I used only the best of my 9 hole scores, my differential would be somewhere around 16 if I calculate that correctly.  BUT since I always play 18, I do not do that.

113 is an average difficulty as it relates to the way handicaps are calculated. Think of it as a course of "neutral" difficulty - a 16.0 index will get 16 strokes.

That doesn't mean it's "average" in terms of what's out there in the world. If I were to guess, I'd estimate that 80% of the courses - at least - in the U.S. are 114 or higher from their one-forward-of-the-back tees.

Well done sir! Just think ... If you posted that swing you'd probably be pushing into the "3's" by now. ;)

Well said, and ignore any comments I made about your excuses earlier. We want a swing video...oh wait, I haven't done one either... Oops :-p

I can't remember the last time I played a course with a 113 slope...

Do they still exist?  LOL   It's probably been 20 years that I played a course with a slope that low......and this is AVERAGE???  I haven't played any wide open cow pastures lately.....is this why?

Kindly do yourself the favor of reading the REST of what I wrote above. It is not the average slope of courses out there, no.

It's not an average, it's the mean number for handicap calculation purposes.  It is not the average slope for all courses, simply an arbitrary median for evaluating and rating course difficulty.

Not to be pedantic (OK, maybe a little), but mean and median are quite different things.

But then again, what the hell do I know?
