I can't get excited over this though. It looks very re-hashed.

Not sure. The good thing about action movies are the plots can be C grade and it can still be fun to watch :)

They sure can :-)

I hope I'm wrong about the trailer.  So many great moments in the original.

David Levinson: You really think you can fly that thing?

Captain Steven Hiller: You really think you can do all that bulls**t you just said?

Captain Steven Hiller: [after reversing into the rear wall] Oops.
David Levinson: W-what do you mean, oops?
Captain Steven Hiller: Some jerk put this...
[Turns the piece of paper round]
Captain Steven Hiller: the wrong way round.
David Levinson: Don't say "oops".
Captain Steven Hiller: What do you say we try that again?
David Levinson: Yes, yes. Yes. Without the "oops". Thataway.
[Points forward]

Thankfully, Randy Quaid's character died in the first one.

Independence Day: Resurgence. Nice beard, Mr. President. In addition to films watched this year that appealed to nostalgia: The Little Prince, The Peanuts Movie, Mad Max, Jurassic World, The Man from UNCLE, Terminator Genisys, Spectre (nostalgia is batting 3/7 imho)  and soon Star Wars.

I can't get excited over this though. It looks very re-hashed.

I watched this trailer yesterday and I agree, looks like a duplicate of the first, nothing original here. Simply selling nostalgia, as you said.

In case my sarcasm isn't coming through - I thought that character was silly too.

I like how Judd Hirsh looks the same age in the trailer as he did in the first one 19 years later.

It's on Netflix Canada. Not on Netflix US.

People will load up Hola or something like it, bypass the country restrictions.

One of my favorite movie moments is from Ex Machina.

Canadia???  wtf is that???  lol....

i had heard about that scene before i watched the movie, and i had my trepidation, but then the scene worked perfectly in the movie to add to the weird vibe/undercurrent of it all.

They often also have different availability based on platform.  We were running it over a second generation Roku.  If it wasn't Netflix it could have been Amazon Prime but I thought it was Netflix.

That's it. You saw it on Prime. I was thinking that. When you use a streaming device a lot, all the "channels" start blending into each other.

In the Heart of the Sea. Par. Everything fell flat, especially lead actor however good performances from a couple of actors I really like.

Creed. Birdie. Great acting by lead and Stallone. A refreshing reboot that works.

Room. Birdie. Hard to say why w/o spoilers.

Good Dinosaur. Par. A very competent, but straightforward Pixar effort.

The Force Awakens. Birdie on a short par 4 that you birdie frequently preceded by a long par 4 that you frequently bogey.

You need to be more specific Steve like:

"Birdie on a short par 4 where your drive went left and hit a small tree at the side of the fairway, but you got a good bounce back to the light rough. Then your approach shot went right but hit the small ridge next to the bunker and bounced left to within four feet of the cup. The birdie putt drifted left, caught the edge of the cup and did a 360 before dropping in."

Ant-man is a par IMO and it deserves it..

There were a few scenes were I just thought to my self man how cool is this!

Some good humor and the action was superb.

I wish there was more interaction with the avengers team, but I understand why they wouldn't do it..  It will tie in very nicely with the new Captain America IMO..

I'm going to give Star Wars The Force Awakens a solid tap in birdie. I really enjoyed the movie.

    • Day 156: went to the range for a bit. Worked on the backswing stuff. Results were mixed, but that’s okay.
    • Fay 231 (20 Dec 24) - Weekly Friday round with the men’s group.  We started on the back so we started with the two toughest holes on the back.  Shot 44 as wedge play saved me on a number of holes - consistently getting the ball within 15’ of the hole.  Front side was better with a 38 (3 bogies / 1 birdie) - again wedge play was key as I had confidence in the distance to be covered and the club chosen.
    • Day 338 - Playing 18 tomorrow, so mostly just putting (setup and sweet-spot contact). Hopefully I'm a bit more dialed in on those easier putts.
    • Day 81 - 2024-12-20 Had 90 minutes between lessons, so I got some practice in. Backswing mostly. Picking the club up quickly.
    • They sent me the same head as I cracked. The Paradym 9 degree. But instead of just the head, they sent me a complete driver.  The guy said because it's not the current model they don't have any heads sitting in inventory, but they do have complete drivers. So, they sent me a complete driver and a UPS label. Then when I got it, I had the choice to keep the compete driver, and send my driver back to them, or swap out the shafts to keep my old shaft and send the new shaft and old head back to them in the same box. Just affix the UPS label and drop it off. Which is what I did.  All in all, the whole process took about 4 days. Which I thought was pretty good.  So, now I have a brand new head (still in the plastic) on my old shaft and with my old white Pure DTC Midsize grip and still have the Shotscope tag in it.  BTW - The new driver also came with a head cover. Which I sent back to them. But if I was hard up I probably could have kept the head cover and I doubt they would have said anything.
