I just saw that Putnam guy pitch over a greenside bunker onto the green, and then walk directly through the bunker to get to the green. Wow, that's lazy...

Wow, great shot from Garrigus

I didn't know Norman was a coach?

They said it started with short game, now working with all parts of his game.

Or marriage advice?

But if he starts talking about clothing or wine, dammit, Woodland should take notes.

I was just watching Kevin Na approach shot on the 3rd hole. It was a bit painful to watch him having the yips...Do any of you guys got the yips? If so, how do you handle it?

I get yippy with short putts, but never with a full shot. Must be maddening to play with him, it's bad enough watching on TV. Did something happen between Garrigus and a rules official?

All I saw was garrigus and Na were put on the clock for being slow. Heard someone swear on nbc and commentators apologize lol.

That's really not fair to Garrigus, it's not his fault Na is horribly slow. Although I do wish players would be more vocal to each other about hurrying the eff up...

The rules official came over to warn Garrigus after he putted out and Garrigus basically told the official to go away, in not a friendly manner.   Playing with Na has to be painful, the guy takes 10 practice swings every time and at least 3 times he pulled up during his swing and had to reset.  I feel bad for Garrigus that he's going to be partnered with Na for the final round.

Garrigus had hit into some trouble and needed rulings a few times, plus having to figure out how to best hit his shot from between trees.  On his own, he probably wouldn't have gotten warned, but he's not really a speedy player either.

That's a little unfair to Na, though. He really sped up after the official warned him. Much quicker in his pre-shot routine, ran from shot to shot on some occasions. It's not like Garrigus was tearing it up.

I've had times where I was hitting the ball so badly that I knew standing over the ball that I couldn't hit the shot, the golf club felt like a foreign object in my hands, and I really didn't want to hit the shot. Never backed off but probably should have (or gone to the house). BUT...Those were times I had the shanks or was just hitting the ball absolutely terribly. Hard for me to understand how Na seems to have that same feeling when he is hitting the ball well enough to be in the final group on Sunday??? Just have to scratch my head on that one.

I feel so bad for Na. Just watching him is painful and comfortable. You can feel the tension and know others watching, especially there just hate him. He comes off as a great guy and apologized 2 years ago when it was real bad at I think Sawgrass. Good for him though to have the intestinal fortitude to get through the yips and boo's regularly.

I feel the same way.  He's seriously fighting with some inner demons.  Makes me root for him even more.

Fun Fact: JD's balls are Taylor Made with number '95 on them......had a chance to see one of them as I was walking off the course behind 18 scoreboard - one of his balls came out of nowhere (Friday) after he hit one of his wayward shots.

Early start today to watch Nicolas Colsaerts and a few other early times.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
