NYC's Union Fare Bakery croissants, birthday cake and green tea. Didn't get cookies and cream or PB&J. You'll need to skip a meal to balance the calories out. The French probably eye roll these - silly barbaric Americans.  They're good, but not stand on line worth it IMHO.

After last week's golf orgy, and with cold weather on the weekend, I think tomorrow is a good day for cooking a texas-style brisket. Should be ready by the start of the skins-cards at 4.

OK, after dry rub last night, and 4 hours on the grill today with hickory smoke, another couple of hours in the oven and it'll be ready to eat.  My house smells incredible!20161204_140711.jpg

I made sliders outside in the snow and cold and dark. They were yummy.

Grilling is a year-round thing for us too, even using charcoal.  I'm the master of using a timer to minimize the time spent outside in the cold.

Staring with a room temperature steak and having a super hot grill will minimize time :-D

Yup, I like hardwood charcoal because it burns hotter than briquettes.  Briquettes are better for slow cooks like the brisket I made a while back, easier to control the heat.

There have been some in NY, as many as ten years ago, even Whole Check Foods tried it downtown, but I guess it never took off, plus sushi associated w/these places not great. There's a Yo! in Paramus.

I don't eat a ton of pizza, but anytime I'm in Connecticut I try to get to Willington Pizza House (near UConn)...the red-potato pie is an all-timer:

The ones in Taiwan that I went to were good, but they're less of a gimmick there. Sushi around me can be hit or miss anyway. The only consistently good sushi places cost way too much money.
