Agreed... Then again there aren't many women on TV that have not gone under the knife for this very same purpose..

Unfortunately for them we live in a society where looks mean everything and the ones that take the high road are the ones end up left behind..

So was she advised to do so? I don't think she needed advice, she knew what she had to do!

From reading about our local television news stations in a large market over the years, consultants are everywhere. Holly seems intelligent and ambitious, so it's not a leap to think she listened. She did not start out on television with enhancement.

Good for Holly! NFL players will be a lot more willing to give sideline interviews now lol...

The new (?) brunette on GC is pretty cute too...in a different way.

I think it's a good move. She has credibility as an announcer, a player, and someone who understands swings.

Saunders is a good golfer who played for Michigan State, but injured her knee and can't handle the physical grind that playing on tour would require. She now plays to a 4 HDCP.

See 2013 Golf Digest cover story and interview: http://www.golfdigest.com/magazine/2013-05/holly-sonders-interview

Since Fox is a major competitor of NBC/The Golf Channel, I'm sure she got good $$ and hierarchy positioning to make the shift.

As far as the Golf Channel goes, I'm afraid it's stuck in utility status as an overflow golf network. It still struggles with chunks of marginal programming, even after NBC took control.

I wish her the best of luck. Sure she was easy to look but she showed knowledge and enthusiasm to go along with it.

Stating facts followed by a conclusion that someone was looking to advance her career is misogyny now?

Do you have anything to say about the topic instead of just commenting on others?

I stand by my comment.

That's just plain misogyny. I'm surprised the moderator let it pass.

We're gonna hear that word a lot over next 2 years and longer if she wins. It's disgusting but it's a tactic that's worked for the past 6 years so they'll use it again.

Back on topic: watching MD now and did a little yesterday. Wish Scottish Open started a little earlier like on Thurs and Fri but that's another discussion. Right along with "get Ritz off the Euro Tour broadcasts!" Anyway, that show is really missing Holly. Totally different dynamic. I think they need to replace her soon. Paige is OK but doesn't have the journalism chops. Winn doesn't have the golf chops. Kelly has both but, meh. Lauren OK I guess. Gonna be tough to do which Holly probably realized so she dug in during negotiations. I miss her more than I thought I might.

I don't know that many would agree she "doesn't have the golf chops." Golf has been her major/only sport for quite a long time now.

I will miss the daily eye candy, and she was very good at what he did.

x1000

sad day indeed.    The pool of female golfers to chose from with her looks, her game, her personality in front of the camera is very VERY small.     One thing I will 100% guarantee and would put my bank account on ... her Golf Channel replacement will not have the complete package as only she has (hotness, golf game and great personality).      This sucks ...

I did not know that Win was still working for TGC. I haven't seen her. Assumed she went off the air to develop her relationship with Michael Phelps. I need to keep abreast of all the going ons of TGC personalities -- Holly/Erik K., Winn/Phelps ... who can they bring on next for a couple of years that will attract male attention, offer them increased exposure, and have the golf "chops" that Holly brought to the tube.

    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
    • No one in the world is as smart as Phil thinks he is.
    • Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.

    • Thanks man, sometimes it’s hard to improve bc when I’m not feeling comfortable I don’t like practicing bc I get frustrated. Any advice?
