No, it is not RJH999 !  It is up to the broadcast corporation to encrypt their signals, and if they are not encrypted, you are fair game to receive them.  Only when you use software or other means to circumvent the encryption means, does it become illegal.

During an NHL on NBC broadcast a few years ago, Mike "Doc" Emrick even welcomed those watching on C-Band during a commercial break, knowing full well there were a few hundred watching legally by this means, as NBC does not encrypt their signals available on 72 degrees (SD) and 101 degrees (HD - 4 time zones)!!!

And btw, the bitrate is so high because you avoid the "middle man" - ie., DishNet or DirecTV getting the signals from the production truck and sending them via CBS or NBC or whatever station - you get them straight by yourself.   Sure, there is a lot of technical know-how and expensive equipment involved, but it is great.

Can I just come over and watch it at your house? That sounds like too much work.

Yeah, his driver has been lights out lately. No fear!

Rory hit every Driver over 300 yards yesterday. Every single one. That's only been done 3 other times in history and Rory just told Kostis "I'm driving the ball better than anytime in my life" No kidding... He's turned into one of the best drivers of the golf ball I've ever seen, and he finished birdie, birdie for the second day in a row. Looks like he's going to the top of the world again soon and well deserved. I think I'm most blown away that he's beating on that driver and sending it with these distances... and he's 5'9" tall. Unbelievable.

Give it a month.

That's not to say he won't stay that way, but just… let's talk in a month.

I'm 5'/8" and I average 300 yard drives :-P Seriously though I have hit quite a few over 300 (not regularly) and it just takes timing and great mechanics which is what Rory is rolling with right now. Rory is awesome but I feel he is a little similar mentally as Bubba as far as keeping his head in the game. We'll see how long he can keep having fun here...

Apologies but it annoys me to no end when people talk about Rory being inconsistent. 13 wins and 3 majors in just over 4 years. He's one of the most consistent golfers of all time! He's not Tiger, sure but other than he or Jack, no one in history has had a start to their career like this. No one keeps their swing and confidence constantly but Rory has done it more consistently than almost anyone.
it just takes timing and great mechanics
anyway... Not necessarily saying he will blister more records with driver in a month or whatever, but he's certainly established himself as one of the best drivers ever if he continues. (Don't forget that record of 300 yards with every single drive that was only done in history 4 times... Rory owns two of those...) No one is perfect forever, ask Tiger. And right now Rory is perfect with driver. The kid, 3 time major winner definitely will not suddenly collapse in a month. He's technically sound, physically strong from his workout regimen, and mentally strong as his records suggest..I believe his biggest strength is confidence. He literally grips it & rips it without fear of any architectural course layout... And the rest of his game feeds off the driver.. His putter stroke looks best ironically when he's ball striking driver with such bold confidence. I like the kid and believe in him that this driver display will take him to top. The way he's playing, he may even catch Sergio Garcia who's tearing it up too.. But no one is above Rory in total driving as of late. and I'm just enjoying watching it so much

If we didn't have the internet, and Jack and Tiger to compare Rory to, we might be more patient with his development.

He's had a good - great season so far this year, but he was clearly struggling either with new clubs or his girlfriend last season.  Once he puts 2 or more good seasons together he'll lose the "inconsistent" tag, especially if Tiger doesn't start to dominate again.

I think the rep has more to do with his absolute domination in his 1st 2 majors coupled with the run he went on after his PGA. So, if he doesn't win every other tournament, after showing that he can for a brief spell, people chalk that up to inconsistency. No one, not even Tiger, can keep that level going indefinitely. Anyways, that's my rant.

Definitely agree with the bolded. When he plays with no fear, as he is now, he is scary good.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finish of this tournament. Rory and Sergio battling it out in the final group could be a lot of fun.

Good grief! I turned on the TV just in time to see Tiger hit it fat on a par 3 and come up 65 yards short. :bugout:

That's what I would expect to see out of...

Jesus Tiger. He's starting to make me feel good about my driving game. He'd be missing the first and 18th fairways at St. Andrew's.

Seriously, this is hard to watch. My heart wants him on the Ryder Cup team, but if I had Tom Watson's head, I don't know how I'd pick him. He's just an absolute mess right now.

Every European wants to see Woods in the US team. His Ryder Cup record was poor even when he was playing well. Playing as he is today, he'd be a liability. Hoping to see Sergio close it out today. It would be nice to see him go into a major with a win of this magnitude boosting his confidence.

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
