I take it you have one then?

Got the app that does it for free haha. Once I get on the course and try it a few times, I'll decide whether the convenience is worth buying the unit.

Kind of funny to look at the total yardage it takes to finish a hole. Last night my ball traveled 445 yards to finish a 372 yard par 4. Missed a green a little further than pin high and found the ball sitting down in a spot where it looks like a mower blade grounded out last year and the bare spots were uneven. But since they haven't started mowing yet and the grass is starting to grow it settled into a little crater. Caught it thin trying to punch it because it had to clear the longer grass growing in the center of this ring shaped scab and it scurried of the other side traveling 42 yards. The chip back was 12 yards and it doesn't record the distance of putts so it was a tad further than the 445. Putt was about 7 feet or so.

My GG fell off my belt on Friday. Luckily, the grounds crew found it on Saturday. So with that, does anyone have a solution for the crappy belt clip?

It's never come close to falling off on my belt(s). Where do you put it? How did you bump it off?

Belt clip is fine IMO.

Yeah, that is one thing that I've had no trouble with at all.  The thing has never budged or even wiggled on my belts.

I never had a problem with it, either. [Rule] Game Golf had the scorecard wrong at the last course I played (par 4s labeled as par 3s, and vice versa). I emailed them the correct information and they fixed the problem in less than 24 hours. Oddly enough, nobody who played the course before me thought to do this.

Yeah they are quick with support. Which unfortunately comes up a lot. They are probably getting burned out on me.

It was on my belt, on the left side. On the GG forums, this is a common problem actually. Many people reported the device falling off, or the clip breaking entirely.

I ended up ordering a smartphone belt pouch that has a better clip. If that doesn't work, I'll just keep it on my pocket.

I attach mine to my pocket so it sits lower than my waist. Hasn't moved yet.

Haven't had a problem with the belt unit but I've noticing the tags have gotten quite a bit of wear from rubbing the bottom of the bag after only a couple of weeks. Has anyone come up with a way to protect them so the numbers don't eventually rub off?

I downloaded the Android GG app a week or two ago and brought up my home course.  I immediately noticed two errors as far as where the proper tee boxes were.  One was about 40 yards off and another was about 100+ yards off and from another hole.  I was really sick that day and finally came out of it at 2:00 am.  I emailed GG and got a reply back in less than a hour.  They must work some weird hours.  I sent a scorecard with the hole layouts and it was fixed in a few hours after emailing it to them.  I mentioned that I have not used the actual GG unit and he wanted to let him know when I had a round in.  Well, I finally used the unit for the first time a couple of days ago.  It also was the first time out this year.  If my GG unit had a brain it would be thinking that its owner stinks. :-O I lit the board up with some horrendous shots.  It can only get better I hope.  I only forgot to tap it on a few greens.  One of them I walked to the spots and tapped them.  It happened to be a 3 putt hole.  After I uploaded the round and worked my way through the edits (two holes), I noticed some things were a little off.  Where I remember hitting some shots is not where they showed on the overhead map.  I don't know if some kind of correction is in order for this course.  I'm the guinea pig because nobody else has played a round on GG at this venue.  It was overcast that day so I'm not sure if that could be doing things or not.  I will try it again to see if it gets a better read on things before emailing the guy at GG.

I kept checking from time to time in case it slipped off my belt.  I was walking that day but I could see it possibly coming loose getting in and out of a cart.  I snapped the plastic holder on my GPS doing the same thing.

Overcast can lead to less accurate GPS, I believe.

I've noticed that I have to make more adjustments on overcast days.

Even my phone loses track of where I am when I use the GPS for driving on days like that.

An interesting thing happened today. I played nine holes and one of the holes borders the other course on the property. It split my round in three with one of the holes on the bordering course and then picked back up a new round on the last 2 holes.

Edit: I didn't hit one OB onto the other course.

Had a similar thing happen once. Warm up area is right next to 10th tee and it registered one shot as a tee shot on 10 and it recorded me as playing 19 holes that day. Easily editable once you realize what happened but at first it looked like it only recorded one tee shot all day and nothing else. I was panicked for a second.

    • Ooh, I don't know about that. I've hit flop shots that are 6-7° down. The more you widen the spin loft the less ball speed you put into the ball.

    • Can't brag about a 50 last night but it was the best round of my season (4 rounds of 9 holes) so I am not as upset as I could be.  One thing I am noticed is that I got a little more confident in my long hybrids and I attempted a couple longer shots that typically I would just lay up and those holes were a big part of the lower score.  Not every shot was great but good enough that they helped.  I even shot par on a Par 5 after taking a drop.  On that hole I would usually lay-up to @ 100 yards and often miss the green altogether with my 3rd shot (or worse chunk my approach and put it in the waste area).  Yesterday I went for it from @ 200 yards out with wind in my face and landed in the waste area short of the green.  My drop left @ 40 yards in and I stuck it to 3 feet for my par putt.  If I had laid up I would have avoided the penalty stroke but likely would not have been on the green in regulation and may still have been working for par.  By going for it I gave myself a chance at birdie and still saved par. I do not plan on being crazy aggressive but I think I tend to be too conservative at times so I will "go for it" a little more often going forward.
    • Day 14 (15 May 24) - Worked with the SW in the backyard, short pitches from 10yds up to 30yds.   Focused on ball placement in stance - ball back, ball forward, ball center.  Afterwards moved to inside the shop to work on putting pace on the rug - putting one way gives about an 8' putt, going the other a 6' before bumping onto the adjacent rug.  Focused there on the line - picking a target point about 18"-24" out and making sure the ball rolls through that point.
