Thanks can't remember which way was aiming but see your point club is defo coming over line out to in

If the path was out to in from there I would expect a cut or a pull, unless maybe you pushed your hands out and/or really closed the face.

Get a video up so the experts can see the whole swing. I don't think it could hurt to experiment with moving a touch farther from the ball, though.

i get the shanks every once in a while, much more likely with a wedge or a 9 in my hands.  for me the path is a little too outward and comes in to the ball with the hosel.

I believe the shanks is a viral infection.  The only cure is to give it to one of your playing partners.

As far as the swing flaw that leads to a shank, I have no idea.

Well I heard and agree that the shanks are often caused by getting up on the balls of your feet. I have done that a few this year. Amazing how fast you can go from mack to hack...

1) weight not forward enough (cant tell from picture) 2) swinging out to in 3) not dropping the arms into impact, your throwing the club at it All the stuff im struggling with and your pre impact image is scarily similar to mine!!! Drill the pro has me on at the minute is from the top bump the left hip and get that weight going forward, and dropping the arms down feeling the right elbow in close to the right hip - this is helping me keep my hands closer to me and the clubhead behind the hands stopping the over the top swing Thats the feelings Another drill is to set your ball down, then further away and behind set up 3 tees in a line, and infont of the ball and closer to you another 3 tees so you create a channel almost to the ball, if you seing ott youll hit the tees, swing in to out you wont,

Thanks for tips and info but it's went from bad to horrific now shanking every single shot even slow easy chip shots are along the ground to the right in exactly same place every time I just can't work it out the feeling through club is awful vibration and its smacking face closed on impact so club is turning in my hands upon strike any help or advice would be super as am on verge of packing in after being a 16 handicap to this omg :(:(

What I have been doing with some success, is to make two practice swing s like my actual swing. I watch the divot positions then more up by the amount the divot is spaced away from the ball.

Then it's a matter of fine tuning it.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
