There was a similar bunker to the one in the photo at a course in Myrtle Beach.  We noted it but the bunker was located so far to the left of the fairway  I felt moved to comment, "Why would they put a bunker like that way the heck over there?  No one is ever going to hit into it!"  You all know the rest of the story.

That reminds me of the Great Pit of Carkoon.  I expect that poor golfer to be gobbled up by a Sarlacc before getting that shot in.

That actually looks pretty fun.  Someday I would like to play a course like that.

Gotta feel bad for the poor guy who had to climb way up to the upper right.  Based on the amount of raking that was done he must have had a rough time of it!

A friend linked me this, thought it was funny.  Sorry if it's been posted about before.

The only way I could make it out is if my club face makes direct contact with the ball. :surrender:

Slightly uphill lie with plenty of room to clear the face. Choke down a half inch, ground your feet, keep the lower body quiet, and make ball first contact. (Then walk 3 feet up the face and repeat)

Good thing I can only report an 8 on that hole.

I wish they had a picture, but Legands in NC has a hole on the back 9 with a bunker that doesn't even have a lip.   It's a sand area with an elevated green (at least 10 feet) and it's just a wall of railroad ties that shores up some of the rough in front of the green.

So it's flat sand, and then a 10-11 foot wall.   Horrible.

IIRC, @Shorty used to have an avatar of someone (him?) standing at the bottom of a huuuuuuuge bunker.

And you used to have an avatar of a girl in a thong.

That's a bunker I'd probably be OK with, because my usual thin would fly onto the green instead of 30 yards past.

I am thinking it's not that bad to get the ball out (and that's all I am trying to do when I get into any bunker bigger than Texas).   But there seems to be another bunker right across.  With my luck, I will get the ball out alright only to see it go into another one.
