I never even knew you were black!?!?!?

It's all about attitude, my man. B-)

Not necessarily. I've had several rounds in the 70s so it's not out of the question. The point is, I'm basing my comment in what I've seen in his swing thread. He has some nice things going on but I honestly don't think he scores that well.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure. :-P

You can even tell by his swing thread. He's asking questions every day about different things and not working on getting things right. He is in too much of a hurry.

Currently he is developing a swing that will work, but he does not have a powerful move through the ball and he does not have an athletic build.

This might change.

He is not developing any power from his legs, so he will not be hitting the ball far and he is coming off it early. A lot of his balls are going to be weak cuts.

There is nothing fluid or natural about his move, but that does not mean that he won't become a very good player. He may.

Problem is, his competition is guys 3 years younger who are shooting in the 60s on good courses.

My guess is that he can break 90 some of the time in good conditions.

He needs to follow advice of the generous free instructors here and just slow down.... it's getting crazy.

Seriously, there's some gold there.

I think I'd be afraid of @Shorty analyzing my swing, haha.

We post our swings for people to analyze them. Never fear a comment that helps you improve. :-)

Yeah, but I didn't know exactly what the "haha" meant. So, I just wanted say something positive to insure you (and anyone else) are still comfortable posting your swings for comments.

Hey guys I'm just wondering I want to turn pro after I'm done school I'm in my 10th grade right now so I have two more years of school after this year and I want to know what I want to do after school if I want to turn pro I don't think I will get a scholarship because my marks are not doing very wellbut what's another way of turning pro but not playing college golf thanks?

This thread got long in a hurry and I did not read each and every post...but here is my 50cents worth.  I have played a lot of golf with a lot of guys who are/have been pros and who are/have been ranked amateurs.  They all say the same thing...even par will not make the cut.  Today's golf courses are long monsters for most amateurs. So you have to be able to bang the ball out there with the big boys and you have to have a deft touch short game.

Whereever you play...you need to be able to beat the pro and the best amateurs around most of the time.  Also, you need to do it with some cash on the line.  When you tee it up for a living..you are playing so you can afford to eat.

Having a dream is a wonderful thing and you need to do all you can to make that dream come true. BUT...have a fall back plan JUST IN CASE.

I wish you all the luck in the world.

For me, "haha," means a short laugh or chuckle.

I appreciate your wanting to make sure I am still comfortable posting my swings.  I am and I know it still needs a lot of work.  Unfortunately I haven't posted a video recently because the snow doesn't allow for outdoor practice :pound:

Yeah, I haven't because I am playing practice rounds with people and it is hard for me to justify setting up a camera for a variety of reasons. Plus I am still evolving my swing to get the most out of it that I can. Not quite comfortable to film it on the course yet. Just planning on posting drills in my swing thread.

BTW, if there was just enough snow for me to actually consider myself a skier, I could post in ski forums and I would be using that same "slightly displeased" emoticon from the LACK of snow. ;-)

Pursue your dreams kid, but always prioritize your education because not many make it to the tour. Also, enjoy the game. Worst case scenario you'll end up just like me, tom, dick, and harry, average golfers but we love the game and have lots of fun playing it. My education allows me to provide for and live comfortably with my little family while enjoying lots of rounds of golf each year, consequence of a handful of years putting in the effort with the books.

The odds are long but someone has to be in the 1% just for there to be a 1%.

Opportunity cost. While he's spending years and years trying to be the 0.00001% (or less), he's passing up on opportunities to do something that is far, far more likely to come to fruition long-term.

I am thinking of making a thread: "How bitter are you that you are not a pro golfer?" But I guess I won't as it wouldn't be too well received, I am thinking.

I for one am not even 0.0001% bitter. It was never, ever what I wanted to do. I don't even want to TEACH Tour players.

If you started that thread, my answer would be absolutely not at all. I didn't even pick up a golf club until I was 24; it was never something I aspired to, nor dreamt of doing. Your presumption that everyone wants to live some kind of jet-set lifestyle is odd.

I didn't read the part of the OP where he said:

"Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know that I am XXXXXXXX who started a thread here a few years ago about wanting to be a pro. You laughed at me and said I had no chance.

Well, guess what? My real name is YYYYYYYY and you would have seen me on TV last week coming Xth in the ZZZZZZZ Open.

Who is bitter?

BTW I am 15, weigh 100pounds and want to be an NFL linebacker. I'm not very athletic and have limited hand eye coordination. But I really want it and have heard that you can make millions in the NFL.  Are you going to step on my "dream" or encourage me and tell me I can do anything if I really want it?

Noone is bitter, just a little weary of starstruck children who have unrealistic expectations of life and don't like hearing the truth. More so, adults who encourage ridiculous plans or embark on them themselves (Dan) with zero possibility of success.

Fact is, these guys don't spend years doing it. They spend a few weeks doing it, manipulating handicaps, ignoring the truth, trying to implement things that take months in 5 minutes and suddenly they're gone forever.  If they were going to be pros, people in their area would know about them already and they wouldn't be on golf websites and forums.

"Oh, and by the way my grades are bad so college is out of the question, even though 100% of NFL players come from college.  I'll be the exception."

But then again, what the hell do I know?
