Okay I guess the boys over on the GG (GAME GOLF) page had enough of hearing from there newest competition. I understand slide rule manufacturers hated it when digital calculators arrived on the scene. I just got my new ARCOOS today and while the weather was rather poor I put the sensor on the clubs paired them to my IPHONE 6 + and headed off to the course. The tee boxes were frozen solid and the fairways looked like a green glazed donut so I only played three holes to get a feel for the unit.

I was very happy with how well the ARCCOS recorded my play. It is clear that as more holes and rounds get entered the more accurate it will reflect your play characteristics.

Looking forward other ARCCOS owners sharing tips on using this new device.

It was not really like that… but… okay. :-)

It's not what he meant.  He simply meant that the thread title was "Game Golf."  Not a lot of sense in posting a bunch about something other than game golf in there, especially if you're looking for input.  How would people who want to help you find your questions?

I have a GG, but that doesn't make me less interested in hearing about how you and others like your Arccos ... and now I know just where to find you guys.

Good luck, I hope it works out.

No problem here. Actually I would have bought GG if I hadn't just recently heard about ARCCOS. For me it is just the seamless way that it works. If you want it looks like it will record your round without you ever having to look at your IPHONE. This is not what I would recommend because your phone actually has a map of the hole you are playing. It shows exactly where you are on the map at all times so it helps you imagine your next shot. Also it gives you front middle and back distances to the greens and tracks your score as you go. I was told that they are working on installing a virtual caddie in the near future as well. :surrender:

How secure are the plugs at the end of the club? Since they contain a bluetooth chip they must be pretty pricy to replace. Do you need to go back and edit your rounds? Like how accurate is it?

Can you share some screen thoughts?

Looking forward to hearing your review.

http://breakingeighty.com/game-golf-vs-arccos-golf Here's a no-nonsense review I thought was helpful. I am intrigued by their use of "Strokes Gained." They appear to analyze aspects of your game using the strokes gained concept and tell you how facets of your game stack up against other handicap players. For example, they seem to tell you if u are a 10 handicap driver of the ball but a 5 handicap putter.

As I just installed the plugs yesterday I can only say they seem pretty sturdy and while they are a little thicker than the GG units in no way do they get in the way for me.

Oddly I have had a habit of gripping the club too far towards the end. Meaning I do not choke down on the club at all. I have a hard time choking down on the club. I think I subconsciously think it will give me more distance on my shots. Even though when I do choke down just a little I tend to hit more accurate shots with just as much distance. I am thinking having this high tech plug on the end of my club I will purposely choke down just a little to keep from wearing the plugs out.

BTW the set up went really smooth especially the club pairing. Very easy to follow instructions. Keep in mind this is coming from a 58 year old commercial fishermen who is not very tech savvy. I didn't have to ask my daughter one question while setting it up. That has to be worth 5 stars.

I would like to play a bit more before I make comments on the need to edit and how much needs to be edited. The same on its accuracy. From what little I gathered after 3 holes it seemed pretty dam impressive.

I will let you know if I find disappointment with ARCCOS. I say this as I am looking at an OPTI-SHOT simulator which is gathering dust in my office.

The author is an expert in "Affiliate Marketing" (if you google his name and "Affiliate Marketing"), so he is likely making some money off of his referrals.  It is still a nice write-up, but like anything on the internet, take with a grain of salt. The most interesting part was that each club had its own way of connecting with the phone (and due to that, no need for the "tap", but also eliminated Android because of the multiple bluetooth devices).

I also thought the strokes gained approach to analysis was appealing, but that is an easy add-on to any of these stat tracking tools- and over time, they'll all get better at slicing and dicing data.

It's a good use of statistics, but that's on the software side. No reason GameGolf can't implement it other than the fact they just haven't. [rule]I don't have an iPhone, so I can't use this anyway, but how does running multiple bluetooth devices affect battery life?

I am told the battery life or usage on your phone uses about 50% of a full charge. Obviously you want to be sure you have close to a full charge before you start.

I would like mention that I just spoke with the ARCCOS support team to go over my initial 3 hole round. They are fantastic about explaining there product and how to use the data. available 9-7 EST seven days a week.

GG does not does not offer real time information like distances to the green, score tracking,GPS images of actual location on the course and a list of distances that you actually hit you different clubs. To me real time information like this is new and cutting edge. I am not sure how GG would be able to upgrade existing units to do these things.

Also it does all this without you having to do anything but just play your game and it records it automatically.

Wow, that might not be good when it is cold out or when your phone's battery is starting to get weaker over time.  I would imagine they will eventually find ways to reduce the strain it has on your phone's battery.  I assume you don't have to have the phone's screen on much right?

As I have said before I just got ARCCOS and due to bad weather have only played 3 holes. The Folks at ARCOSS encourage you to refer to your phone during the round so you take advantage of these features. They say you should expect about 60% battery drain while playing 18 holes. So i would say this figure is with you referring frequently to your phone. My thought is keep it in your back pocket in the same way you see pros keep there course note books and refer to it at any shot location that you have any question(distance, club choice). It would seem that it will improve you game management and reduce scores.

Weathers looking like maybe nine cold holes possible.  30 degrees right now might reach 39 by noon.

Might be a stupid question, but does it double as a GPS distance device(so you can see how far you are from the center of green) as you are using it?

Yes it gives you front, center and back of the green. It also puts the actual hole via GPS imaging so you can see exactly where you are standing on any particular hole. If you happen to hook one into an adjoining hole it shows that as well. In other words it follows you where ever you walk.

That is a pretty cool feature.  I would not use it but very cool. :-)

On my home course that I have played hundreds of rounds I agree I won't use that either.  On a new course or one I haven't played in a long time I think I will use it a lot.
