Played today with a guy who claimed to shoot low 90's but used bright orange balls because he said he tends to lose white ones in the rough since he is always there. He easily shot in the 120's today and it was bad.

Wallie Coetsee on the European Tour is -9 under using a yellow Srixon ball. One off the lead.

Really I don't pay much attention to what others are using on the course. If they are using a different colored ball then it's easy to identify which ball is theirs sitting in the fairway etc. I did play a round last year with a guy using orange. His wife using a pink. My partner yellow and me white. It was a very colorful fairway a few times. It made us all chuckle

I'm not sure why anyone would care what color ball anyone else plays. So my answer to the question is, nothing.

I think they either got some yellow balls as a gift, got them from a bag of lakeballs, or just like yellow balls.

I think  that they are lucky because where I play the crows get them within a hole of you putting them into play. I like them.

Anyone who thinks negatively about the golf balls other people use is a fool.

Someone here was talking in another thread about "performance" balls, FFS.

Just play golf.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Hehe, just wanted to post 'hey I see this pro on the ET using yellow balls' but you beat me to it. Play yellow balls myself also btw. I'm not that good, so yellow balls are normally easier to find when I'm in the rough again. Love the game though!

Amen!

Many moons ago when I was playing in the Greater Bangor Open as an Amatuer, I was also in grad school, had no money so I played the tournament with Topflite XL's.  Came in 7th in the Am field.  This was back when the Titleist Professional was the it ball.

More men should wear pink. It's actually a very flattering color on all complexions. I guarantee if you wear a pink shirt to work you will get a ton of compliments.

Not necessarily :) I have several pink shirts and wore one to work one day. The fellas had a good time with the choice. Of course i manage Teamsters which makes for an interesting environment. But the girls in the office liked it!

I'm not being sexist, but from whom do you value a compliment more, men or women? You can't let men tell you what color shirt to wear! Hell, half of you are color blind, bless your hearts.

Honestly I could care less about the comments. I have worked with those guys since I was a kid (19 years old). And after 20 years they know I wear whatever I want. It's pretty fun to show up in a lavender polo and see them smile and shake their heads. They're used to it by now. I joke with them that their idea of "dressing up" is a clean camo t shirt. And I was a Teamster for 7 years as well.

Haha, I nearly said that if you listened only to the fellas we'd all be wearing camo! Not that there is anything wrong with camo. I'm not ashamed at all to admit that my Easter dress is going to be made from pink Realtree. Does that make me a redneck?

But here is a question related to colored balls. What do you really think when you see a grown man dressing like Ricky Fowler?

I have the same feeling as men in skinny jeans. Please don't!

I'm cool with you wearing pink but dude, you can't say that you're wearing lavender. It's purple if you want to retain your man-card.

    • You need to stick with one instructor as long as they’re not terrible. There’s no blueprint to improving a golf swing and different instructors may see different things as being more important and try to fix them. The end result is you get a hodge podge of things to work in that may not be cohesive or necessarily help you. If you stick to one instructor and communicate to them as such, they’ll also be able to work out a roadmap to your improvement which is more beneficial in the long run. If a guy assumes you’re just coming in for one lesson you might end up with a band aid.

    • Many thanks.  I read a lot of those posts.   Man, that is really deep.  As an old beginner, during a lesson or on the driving range, I have hit a good shot, you know pretty straight and it goes say 130 yards (7 iron).  The very next swing, I dig a ditch behind the ball.  I know I didn't do the same things on both swings.  Even this last lesson I had, I would hit a pretty good shot, not so on the next shot.  The instructor would quickly point out, "Hey you stayed on your back foot" or "Guess what happened there.  You got all armsy or handsy".  Sort of feels like I need a checklist when I prepare to swing each time.  I can see it now before every swing, "Hey can you guys give me 10 minutes while I run through my checklist".  In all seriousness, I see what you all are saying.  I wouldn't be overthinking it so much if just I could make decent contact most of the time.  Next lesson is about two weeks away.  Can't wait.

    • I was going to link in the same think @snapfade did.  Your swing is already consistent, repeatable, except for nearly "microscopic" differences.  The more mechanically-sound your swing becomes, the smaller and less frequent those "microscopic" deviations become.
