I'm not sure Speith is the type of guy to let the field back in, but time will tell.

If his long game doesn't fall apart. I think his track record is being a very good putter. I remember a few majors ago he had the lead and kept hitting shots right and ended up falling out of the lead.

Spieth's biggest obstacle is going to be settling down when things go wrong. He has a bit of a temper, and at a young age, he sometimes has a hard time calming down. However, he is putting himself in position to win EVERY WEEK and that's helping him mature when he's at or near the top of the leaderboard.  I have not seen a player this consistent at this young of an age since, well...you know who.

Look, you can disagree, that's cool and all, but add more to the discussion than that.

But hey, what do I know. I'm just an instructor, and my opinion only aligns with just about everyone who had a microphone today.

None of whom (that I heard) even discussed the early hiccoughs.

Now, his up and down on 4 today continues a good trend.

Good bye, Folwer, my 1st pick.   You dashed my hope of getting a full set of new golf grips, you [fill in the blank].   Hello, Jordan, my 2nd pick.  Wire to wire.  Let's get it on.

When will this tournament have full TV coverage?  In this day and age, it's unbelievable every shot isn't shown on TV in full HD.

They let you see what they want you to see. Nothing more.

LOL... You realize that Jordan was other people's first pick right? Your second and third pick should be someone that no one picked in their first pick, otherwise you might as well not have a second or third pick.. Anyway just thought I'd really ruin your weekend (J/K)

The Masters needs softer flag sticks. Furyk almost pulled a Tiger on hole #12.

Furyk's tee shot at 12 ricochets of the flagstick, bounds toward the creek, and somehow stays up on the bank. I don't know if he was extremely lucky or unlucky.

In a world of golf, it can happen simultaneously.  But I want it to happen in unlucky to lucky sequence. ;-)

11 is brutal today. They can't seem to figure out that chip.

Open up the club a bit, ball slightly ahead of middle stance, use the bounce, be aggressive. They are just wimps. :-D

Though putting from down there would be a pretty safe option because of how well maintained that course is. :-P

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
