They often have him do some act or routine during broadcasts that is pretty much rotten in my book. I am curious if there's anyone that actually is entertained.

Most of what passes for humor on golf TV is the sort of corporate sterile humor that doesn't actually register with the general public. The kind that Augusta National would approve of, if you get my meaning.

The same people who found Jacobson's Donald Trump impression funny are the same ones who get a charge out of Trump subsequently fake firing him. It's basically only funny on paper. Or maybe on papyrus.

I like him - here he is Tuesday. He was at Arnie's getting ready for the tournament - now if you want to start a poll on McCord - well let me just say I wish he'd quit the broadcast business.

I don't have a problem with him per se, just that his attempts to be funny completely fail for me. As a straight up analyst / commentator, I have no opinion one way or another of him. Unlike McCord, who can get a bit much at times, but is fine in small doses, I'd say.

I don't find him particularly objectionable, but I also don't find him funny.

I don't think he's funny but funny is a very subjective thing. Like music. Or books. I pretty much skip anything that doesn't involve a club, a ball and grass anyways. Moot for me.

Jacobson often does comedy acts other than the cheese he provides occasionally for broadcasts. Those routines are often far reaching for humor and appear Benny Hill-ish except in a serious attempt in humor.

He wrote a book in the early '90s called Buried Lies which was a collection of stories about being on tour and other players/celebrities.  I thought it was entertaining, and there were certain parts I found genuinely funny.  I don't find him all that funny when he's doing commentary work, but when he is being interviewed he is one of the better personalities....again more entertaining than funny.

The problem he has is that he either can't or chooses not to distinguish between being funny and just hitting the cadence and notes of being funny. I'd argue that a guy like Feherty gets into trouble when he starts doing more of the latter in his scripted bits as opposed to more of the former that comes naturally when he's reacting to things in the moment.

I don't have too much problem with it; golf is so stodgy most times that even the weakest attempt at humor is graded on a generous curve. The Golf Boys is mediocre stuff, but it's nice to see any of these guys show a pulse.

This for me as well. Not terribly funny, usually, but I certainly don't mind him either.

Just saw this weeks produced segment ... A "recreation" of Robert gamez shot from several years ago. Oy. While I still say that he doesn't bother me ... This was beyond unfunny. What a waste of 5 minutes.

Never been a fan of his humor. Nice guy I'm sure, but his humor is the style you'd find at a bible camp or some real straight laced groups where I'd never be found. Harmless, nice...yes. Funny? Not at all.

Are you speaking of Peter JACOBSON, the actor? If so, I find him delightful, and think he has a good range of skills, but comedy is probably the weakest. If you're speaking of Peter Jacobsen, the golfer, I find him a little troubled. I'm sure he's still haunted about what happened at the Lufthansa German Open in 1985, buy that's food for another thread. Funny? He has some moments.

It was okay until it went too far w/ the marshals and volunteers hitting the Gamez shot.....those were some gawdawful swings to look at.

As has already been mentioned, it's hard for someone to be funny within the confines of what's permissible on golf tv. He seems like a good guy who would be fun to have a couple beers with. I have no problem with him and would take him over McCord any day.

I prefer witty to funny in my announcer choices,  I liked Ben Wright.  I like Peter Allison.  I like Johnny Miller although I'm not sure why totally. But when put up against Jim Nance and the endless worshipping at Augusta, Johnny is the front runner in my book. Faldo is not funny. And Jacobsen is not funny,  Any real humour that McCord tried was snuffed by the stuffed shirt Billionaires at Augusta.  Oh well he gets a week's vacation. But they All have the ability to keep me amused or put me into snooze mode, depending on what's happening in front of them on the course.

Pretty much this.  I mean, the PGA Tour was in love with Hootie and the Blowfish.

"Witty golf quote."
